Boks2021 1South Africa v Ireland and Wales v Australia are this weekend's headline Rugby World Cup matches and @Olimp_SA have a preview including betting tips

The first two weeks of the World Cup have passed and now we're into the third week of games with the business end fast approaching. In this preview, 'The Don' looks at the betting odds for the South Africa vs. Ireland and Wales vs. Australia matches.

South Africa v Ireland

In their first two games, the Springboks secured two victories, defeating Scotland 18-3 and Romania 76-0. Following their impressive performance against Scotland, South Africa has chosen to field a very similar team against Ireland, with the only change being Malcolm Marx out due to injury. The Boks are currently priced at 1.61 to top Group B and 3.75 to win the World Cup outright.

Similarly, to the South African side, Ireland have also won their first two games, defeating Romania 82-8 and Tonga 59-16. They have named a strong team to face the Springboks and Irish fans will be pleased to see the return of hooker Dan Sheehan on the bench after injury.

Ireland are currently priced at 2.20 to top the group and 5.05 to win the World Cup outright.

Verdict

With both teams entering this game in excellent form, it's highly likely that we will witness a closely contested match where small margins will determine the victor. This suggests that we may not see a high-scoring game, but instead, a match decided by penalties. I am going to take Ireland to shade a close one.

Australia v Wales

Wales have had a strong start, defeating Fiji 32-16 in a close contest and Portugal 28-8. Wales will enter this game with the goal of topping their group, which will be highly likely if they secure a win. They are currently priced at 1.71 to top the group and 33.00 to win the World Cup outright.

Australia opened their campaign with a 35-15 win over Georgia but were then upset by Fiji, who defeated them 22-15 in their second game. This upcoming match will be crucial for Australia's chances of advancing beyond the group stage, and they will be desperate for a win. After their defeat to Fiji, they are currently priced at 6.30 to top the group and 27.00 to win the World Cup outright.

Verdict

Despite Australia needing a win in this contest, based on what I saw in their game against Fiji, the Welsh side should be able to defeat them and secure their third win of the World Cup and quarter-final qualification.

The Don’s Play

Wales to win at 1.94
