The Champions Cup returns to our screens as an early Christmas present and here is where I will be focusing my betting action for the coming weekend.

Bath vs Clermont

What you need to know

It's a mouth watering midfield clash which awaits in this one as as the combination of Jamie Roberts and Jonathan Joseph square off against the solid pairing of George Moala and Isaiah Toeava - this should be brutal!

With Bath at the bottom of pool 3 at present they drastically need a victory in this clash to keep their playoff hopes alive. However domestic form gives little indication that the English club should be harbouring thoughts of possible Champions Cup success. The French side on the other hand will be well and truly focused on this comp whilst also not being in the worst of form in their own league.

On the team news front the impressive Yato is missing from the Clermont. They will however have Morgan Parra and Camille Lopez doing duty as half back pairing to go with their powerful centre pairing. Bath are also sans Sam Underhill yet apart from that have picked a strong looking side.

Verdict

French sides are always tough to call right away from home yet Clermont will be chomping at the bit to pick up the victory and take a significant step toward qualification against a Bath side who haven't really been at the top of their game.

Take our weekend EPL treble, Everton v Chelsea over 2.5 goals, Watford v Crystal Palace draw and Man City v Man Utd both teams to score with odds boosted to 12.00

Munster vs Saracens

What you need to know

I have firmly committed to backing Sarries to the hilt in the Premiership. But the Champions Cup is a different matter given their clear emphasis on home front after the penalty. But with now domestic requirements next week and the internationals only really fully back into action now we should still see a very strong Saracens side selected. Munster come inot this game off the back of a home defeat against Edinburgh and quite frankly I don't think they are the same dangerous team under Van Graan.

Verdict

I expect a wounded Sarries to come to Munster ready to put up one heck of a fight. The value for mind lies with the visitors.

Ospreys vs Racing 92

What you need to know

Ospreys have struggled in the Pro 14 and haven't done much better in the Champions Cup either. Racing haven't been great in France but have a home victory over Saracens and an away draw to Munster in the bag thus far in the European tournament. In their tough pool with Saracens and Munster the Frenchies will know they need to collect the points where they can.

Verdict

I expect Racing to put this average Ospreys team to the sword.
