The Uefa Champions League moves into the quarter final stage this week and and we have put together a treble with the odds boosted by @Olimp_SA
We had a near miss on the final day of the English Premier League season and we remain stuck on 5 successful trebles, now from 20 attempts. It's been tough going since the re-start but some good strikes earlier in the season would see you in front over the course of the campaign to level stakes. We stick with the same match result, over 2.5 goals and both teams to score format for Sunday's fixtures and the odds have been boosted to 8.90. Let's see if a change in competition can bring about a change in fortune.
Leg 1 RB Leipzig v Atletico Madrid (Thursday)
Leipzig are one of the surprise names in the last 8 but they are there on merit, as demonstrated in the Round of 16 when they put Spurs away 4-0 on aggregate. Their group stage form comprised of 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat whilst in the Bundesliga they finished third in the standings.
Atletico have far more Champions League experience than their opponents and in the Round of 16 they knocked out last season's winners Liverpool. They won the first leg 1-0 in Madrid whilst the return at Anfield saw Liverpool 1-0 in front at the end of regulation time, Atletico eventually ran out 3-2 winners after extra time. A third place finish behind Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga was pretty much par for the course and gut feel is they will have a touch too much for Leipzig here.
Ateltico to win in regulation time gets the vote.
Prediction: Atletico to win
Leg 2 Barcelona v Bayern Munich (Friday)
What a game this promises to be. Barca are unbeaten in this competition this season and in the Round of 16 they came through with a 4-2 aggregate win over Napoli. They finished as runners up to Real Madrid in La Liga but a Champions League title would be more than adequate compensation and they arrive in decent form.
Bayern coasted to the Bundesliga title, they boast a 100% record in the Champions League this season and the goals have been flowing. They have found the net 31 times in 8 UCL matches including a 7-1 aggregate win over Chelsea in the Round of 16.
The teams haven't met since the 2015 semi finals when Barca won the first leg 3-0 and Bayern took the return 3-2. This time the tie will be settled over just 1 leg and whilst naming a winner is no easy task we fancy a game of 3 goals or more in the 90 minutes.
Prediction: Over 2.5 goals
Leg 3 Manchester City v Lyon (Saturday)
Hopefully the treble will still be running come Saturday when Manchester City take on Lyon in the last of the quarter final match ups. City are now the outright favourites to lift the trophy after they beat Real Madrid 2-1 in Manchester last week to go through 4-2 on aggregate.
Lyon are outsiders in the outright betting for this competition and the quarter final draw could have been kinder. They had a very average season in Ligue 1 but they put in a tremendous effort in the Round of 16 to stun Juventus, going through on away goals after a 1-0 home win and 2-1 defeat in Turin.
Although the French side look up against it they can also take heart from group stage head to heads with City in 2018/19 when they won 2-1 in Manchester and drew 2-2 on home turf.
Both teams to score in 90 minutes rounds off our treble.
