Couch Critic previews Melbourne Renegades v Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers v Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League and nails up his bets bets with @Olimp_SA
It’s the first weekend of BBL action and a few of the teams will get their first taste of the action. If you haven’t yet, now is the time to dip you betting toes into Aussie waters – here is where my money is going in a coupe of matches this weekend.
Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers, Sat 12 Dec @ 10:15
Two teams that had bad outings in 2019/20 will look to change the tune in this new season. The Renegades should have a strong top order but do they have the bowling to get the job done more often than not? The Scorchers on the other hand look strong in the bowling department with Tye, Ahmed, Richardson and Behrendorff. But compared to Finch and Marsh opposing them the men from Perth will rely on a few of their batters pitching in.

Top Renegades Bowler – K Richardson @ 3.00
Fresh off being part of the Aus set-up I expect Kane Richardson to show his class in this field.
Top Scorchers Bowler – F Ahmed @ 4.00
The spinner is a veteran in this format and I am expecting a strong tournament from him.
Top Scorchers Batsman – JP Inglis @ 4.00
Inglis had a stormer last season and in this Perth line-up his form is going to be vital for their success.
Man of the Match – M Marsh @ 9.00
The skipper will need to lead form the front for the Scorchers. Valuable with both bat and ball he looks a good bet in this market.
Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes, Sun 13 Dec @ 05:15
The Hurricanes have had their first outing and now the Strikers get their taste of the action. Hobart showed plenty of fight in wrestling out a victory over the Sydney Sixers. First they bounced back from losing both their openers for donuts and then their bowlers held their nerve when the Sixers looked well on course.

The Strikers could take some time to get up to speed whilst Hobart were pretty impressive in getting the job done in the opener. I’m backing the Hurricanes to have the stronger batting line-up and a touch more early form.
Top Strikers Bowler – P Siddle @ 4.00
The veteran is a whole-hearted performer and is sure to come into this first game looking to make his mark from the start.
Top Hurricanes Batsman – P Handscomb @ 5.50
I am backing Short to get some runs but the skipper was part of the fight back on Thursday and will be keen to lead the charge to his side getting off to a nice two-from-two start in the comp.
Man of the Match – D Short @ 7.00
Short wasn’t in great touch for Australia but he should prove a cut above at this level. He won’t miss-fire with the bat again and the first match showed he will be used as bowler as well.
