AllBlacks80Couch Critic previews the second Bledisloe Cup clash between New Zealand and Australia on Sunday and the Mitre 10 Cup including best bets with @Olimp_SA

BLEDISLOE CUP 2

My Mitre 10 poor form continues but at least the Best Bet snuck in with the Bledisloe game. Here is what I expect from the second test as well as a Mitre 10 standout play.

New Zealand vs Australia – Sunday 18 Oct @ 05:00, Auckland

After free-flowing and often one-sided domestic clashes the opening rugby international of the post-Corona era was a breath of fresh air. In typical New Zealand weather, the match was a game of attrition and the home side looked to have navigated their way through the gutsy obstacle that is Dave Rennie’s new Wallaby team when the men in black took a 13-3 lead early in the second half. Yet the visitors refused to go away and came within a whisker of pulling off a dramatic late victory when a monster penalty kick from Hodge hit the upright.

For the sequel to this mini-series we travel to Auckland where a packed Eden Park should lie in wait to see whether Ian Foster’s All Blacks can come charging back or whether the men in gold can muster back-to-back big efforts against the old foe.

Betolimp Bets

Best Bet: Australia +15.5 @ 1.86

In years gone by the mighty All Blacks would bounce right back from a disappointing result. But I think it’s time to face facts – New Zealand still have some incredibly gifted players at their disposal but they aren’t that unbeatable force they were a few years back. The Wallabies aren’t given enough respect yet and I would be surprised to see them lose by more than 12 points.

HT/FT Margin: New Zealand (9+) / New Zealand (1-12) @ 12.00

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the hosts, with plenty of home support cheering them on, dig deep and start with one heck of an effort. But this Aussie side should have the bottle to keep fighting until the end in my opinion.

First Tryscorer – Shanon Frizell @ 19.00

The big blindsider is tasked with bringing the physicality and he also has quite the appetite for a meat pie so I see some value in backing Frizell.

Last Tryscorer – Jake Gordon @ 34.00

If the game transpires the way I think it might I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Wallabies get the final score of the game. The Waratahs scrumhalf was in good tryscoring form (he managed a hat-trick against the Reds) and looks a decent play in this market.

Additional Play

Mitre10 Best Bet: Auckland vs Tasman – Tasman -3.5 @1.82 (Saturday 17 Oct @ 05:35)

Auckland looked the part early doors in this comp but seem to be struggling now. They just about squeezed past Taranaki and Bay of Plenty in their last two outings. Tasman bounced back well from their shock loss to North Harbour as they comfortably put BOP away this past weekend. I don’t believe the Aucklanders can live with this Mako side and pick them as my best bet of the Mitre10.

Special Plays: Last Tryscorer – Seevu Reece @ 11.00

Wincast – Andrew Makalio first tryscorer and Tasman to win @ 19.00

Additional Mitre 10

I’ve been impressed by Waikato whilst Canterbury haven’t been overly dominant. Otago are also a team I fancy to perform well against Counties.

Double: Waikato +7.5 onto Otago -9.5 @ 3.37
