HIGHLANDERSCouch Critic previews the Super Rugby Aotearoa match between the Highlanders and the Hurricanes including best bets and tryscorer specials with @Olimp_SA

The final weekend of Super Rugby Aotearoa is already upon us and whilst the champions are already known to us it still promises to be and exciting end to what was a thrilling competition.

Highlanders vs Hurricanes – Saturday 15 August Dunedin

The Hurricanes are the form team in the comp going into the final game on a five-match winning streak. Their forwards have been able to step up to the physical challenges thrown at them and the back division has found it’s range and are striking regularly. Fronting up against the Canes is a Highlanders side who have shown plenty of fight but haven’t been able to achieve the results they would have hoped for.

Verdict

The likes of Jordie Barrett and Ardie Savea have tuned their level of play up to an extremely high standard at the sharp end of the season. Umaga-Jensen had a stormer of a game last time out and even with Aaron Smith, Josh Ioane and Shanon Frizell in fine form the visitors will find it tough going keeping pace when the Canes bring the thunder one last time. The fact that the Highlanders won’t have their home fans in attendance for this one has me further convinced that the men in yellow are the right team to back in this clash.

BETOLIMP BEST BETS - Saturday

Hurricanes to win and beat the alternative cap of -8.5 at 2.82

The Landers don’t have their home fans as extra motivation and the Canes are a dangerous team who could just pull away when they are in full flight.

Half Time / Full Time Winning Margin – Hurricanes (1-8) / Hurricanes (13+) @ 13.00

For mind there is just the outside chance that the Canes really pull away in the latter part of the game.

First Tryscorer: Dane Coles @ 20.00

Jogging out as the new highest capped Hurricane forward expect the ultimate try poacher to get over the line, and if he does it first it’s a lovely payday for us.

Anytime Tryscorer: Peter Umaga-Jensen @ 4.50

The centre was in superb form last week and this time around he will be closer to the action. I expect him to get over the whitewash in this one.
