sh2019Couch Critic previews the Indian Premier League matches taking place on the 7th and 8th October including best bets from @Olimp_SA

The IPL action keeps coming thick and fast. Here is a look at some mid-week matches and where my money is going.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings, Wednesday 07 October – Abu Dhabi

KKR got stopped by the impressive Delhi last time out but are sitting mid-table and are very much a team with a solid chance to remain in the running for the knockouts until the very end. Batting wise the Knight Riders have proven extremely capable with Gill, Rana and Morgan in good form. With ball in hand they aren’t nearly as lethal though.

Chennai are fresh off a dominant 10 wicket demolition of the Kings XI but still only have two wins from five outings. Dhoni and his chargers will be keen on kicking on but question marks remain around all aspects of their game at present – it surely is time for Tahir to get a run.

Betolimp Bets:

Most Match Sixes – KKR @ 1.83

Shane Watson clicked into gear in the last outing but I still feel there is more in-from firepower amongst the Knight Riders; think Rana, Morgan, Russell and even Narine.

Top KKR Batsman – N Rana @ 5.50

Fresh off a fifty and batting at 3 there appears to be some value in Rana to keep his form going.

Top CSK Batsman – A Rayudu @ 5.00

Du Plessis is in cracking form but surely he is due a slow night sooner rather than later.

To win the game – KKR @ 1.96

One victory won’t convince me that CSK are back on the right path. The Knight Riders have a better balance to their side in my opinion.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kings XI Punjab, Thursday 08 October – DSC Dubai

It’s still early doors in the comp yet both these teams will be desperate for a win to get off the bottom of the table. The Sunrisers don’t have the firepower of some of the other teams in the IPL. Rashid Khan is a wizard with the ball but he is surrounded by a containing attack rather than a lethal striking one. With the willow they are over-reliant on Bairstow and Warner at the top and as such the international opening pair often have to curb their full attacking force in favour of keeping their wickets intact.

Punjab have two of the leading batters in the tournament in their ranks yet only have a single victory to show for their efforts. Glen Maxwell is yet to be properly unleashed but the biggest issue for the Kings XI has been with the ball. In their last three outings the Kings couldn’t take a wicket against CSK, let in 191 against Mumbai and couldn’t defend 223 when facing Rajasthan. Clearly they have serious problems on the bowling front.

Betolimp Bets:

To score the most sixes in the match – N Pooran @ 10.00

Pooran has been in good hitting form and should be a real runner in this market whilst Bairstow and Warner put a high price on occupying the crease for a longer period of time whilst the West Indian always seems to step to the crease with a licence to launch.

Top SRH Bowler – R Khan @ 2.62

Teams have opted to just see Rashid off but I’m still sticking with the Afghan to pick up a few sticks in this encounter.

Top SRH Batsman – M Pandey @ 5.50

Manish has a 30 and a 29 to his name in his last two outings and both came at a good rate. He is clearly finding form and looks to have been handed the no.3 birth. He offers some value in my opinion.
