NRL ROUND 6 – SATURDAY & SUNDAY MATCHES

The Tigers let us down badly this past weekend but it was the Eels who left me feeling sick as the Mat Dufty first try needed Parramatta to get the job done… I won’t stew on the losses though and am ready to bounce back for Week 6.

MANLY SEA EAGLES vs GOLD COAST TITANS– Sat 17 Apr @ 07:00, Manly

It was a weekend with plenty of surprising results and one of the biggest head-turners was Manly sneaking past the Kiwis. The Titans on the other hand caught the attention like model on a catwalk with the manner in which they strutted past the Knights. I see the Round 5 Sea Eagles result as what the investor guru’s call a “dead-cat bounce” – they are still firmly down on their luck and their form whilst the Titans are in sparkling touch. It’s the Queenslanders for me with a bit of room to spare I reckon, even with Tommy Turbo back in their ranks.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS vs WEST TIGERS – Sat 17 Apr @ 09:30, Sydney

The Rabbitohs had zero trouble in getting past the Broncos in Round 5. In five outings the Wests have now slipped to four losses. Instead of the Tigers looking to prey on the Bunnies it’s Souths that will be eyeing out luring the tame-looking cats in for a ravishing.

CANBERRA RAIDERS vs PARRAMATTA EELS – Sat 17 Apr @ 11:35, Canberra

The Eels let me down badly last week whilst the Raiders were well beaten by the table topping Panthers. Many will be ready to discard the Eels to the scrap heap, but I feel they are still a plucky side worth supporting. I don’t see Canberra putting the Eels away with ease. The loss of Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is further incentive to oppose the home team.

ST GEORGE DRAGONS vs NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS – Sun 18 Apr @ 06:00, Sydney

The Dragons are the toast of the town with only one loss thus far whilst the Warriors come into this one off the back of two straight losses. An in-from confident Dragons outfit should have what is required to get the job done in this one.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS vs CANTERBURY BULLDOGS – Sun 18 Apr @ 08:05, Townsville

It’s the basement battle in this one. The Cowboys showed some spark last week and the question is whether that can develop into a full-on fire or fizzle out into nothing? JT is back for the North Queenslanders but I won’t be committing too much of my funds on any of these two strugglers.
