NRL ROUND 7 – THURSDAY & FRIDAY MATCHES

The Sharks let me down in a big way but fortunately the Storm did the business and Ponga was on fire to ensure we didn’t go into the weekend too far in the red. (Unfortunately things went further South on Saturday and Sunday). Let’s take a look at what waits for us in Round 7 of the NRL.

PENRITH PANTHERS vs NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS – Thu 22 Apr @ 11:50, Penrith

The Panthers were kept honest for the entire 80 by the Broncos last week. Having eased back a touch the Panthers will have to move up the gears again if they want to remain the only unbeaten team in the comp as the Knights will be firing after a confidence boosting victory over the Sharks.

With a more settled unit back on the park and starting to find their rhythm this Knights team could start to prove tough to joust off their mount. The table toppers will find it increasingly difficult to maintain their high standards week in and week out. I don’t see this Panthers side losing at home but I do expect Newcastle to keep them honest with Kylan Ponga at the helm.

GOLD COAST TITANS vs SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS – Fri 23 Apr @ 10:00, Gold Coast

Falling is never fun but it hurts that little bit more when it’s a fall from grace. The Titans were a team on the up and playing with gusto only to be schooled in Mudgee last Saturday. The Gold Coast side will return home looking to apply the lessons learnt against the Sea Eagles as the welcome the Rabbitohs in Round 7.

The Bunnies were expected to tame the Tigers in Round 6 but eventually required additional time as things almost went South for them against the men from the West.

Both teams were dealt a firm reality check this past weekend but one has to feel that South Sydney should be back to their attacking best even with some backline re-shuffling in their ranks.

PARRAMATTA EELS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS – Fri 23 Apr @ 11:55, Darwin

Both sides bounced back well in Round 6 but it is the Eels who will have the biggest spring in their step as they head North for this clash on the neutral turf of Darwin. Mitch Moses was all class last week and he could prove to be the Bronco buster this week. For Brisbane it’s a crucial week to finally start showing some consistency in performance.

BETOLIMP BETS

Double: Knights +22.5 onto Rabbitohs to win @ 1.95

The Panthers can be ruthless but I feel the Knights have found some character now whilst I just don’t see Bunnies slipping up.
