NRL ROUND 9 – SATURDAY & SUNDAY MATCHES

The last few weeks haven’t been very profitable to let’s look to Round 9 for a change in fortunes.

CANBERRA RAIDERS vs NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS – Sat 08 May @ 07:00 Wagga Wagga

The Raiders host the Knights in NSW for this clash. Both sides find themselves in the middle of the pack at present and neither seem destined to trouble those at the top to be honest. The Knights were decapitated by the Roosters this past weekend (a result which stung yours truly). There will be plenty of classy players on show in this one but neither team have been able to channel their efforts successfully as a unit in 2021. I won’t be doing my nuts on trying to guess where this one is going so to the exotics I go for inspiration and profit.

WEST TIGERS vs GOLD COAST TITANS – Sat 08 May @ 09:30, Sydney

The Titans have mixed shit with Champagne this season. They were donutted by the Sea Eagles yet put 40 on Newcastle, 30 against the Bunnies and scored five tries last week (4 in the opening quarter). The Titans aren’t the finished product yet but they are dangerous enough with ball in hand to make it a long day at the office for the Wests. The home side come into this clash off the back of a victory but I think they will let in too many against the Gold Coast side.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS – Sat 08 May @ 11:35, Sydney

It’s time for the Queensland derby. There has been a considerable improvement from the Cowboys over the past month or so whilst the Broncos have pulled a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde thus far. At home in Townsville the Cowboys should take it in what could prove to be an entertaining affair.

MANLY SEA EAGLES vs NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS – Sun 09 May @ 06:00, Sydney

The Sea Eagles are back to chance their luck at Lottoland on Sunday. Another mid-table clash which should show us where both teams are heading. In their last three outings Manly have sneaked on past these same opponents in Gosford, kept a clean sheet against the Titans, put 40 past the Tigers and were competitive enough against the table toppers. I have a decent opinion of the Warriors but think the Sea Eagles will soar in Manly – the loss of both their starting props is a big concern however.

ST GEORGE DRAGONS vs BULLDOGS – Sun 09 May @ 08:05, Sydney

There has been a dramatic loss of form for the Dragons of late and the loss of Zac Lomax will be a big miss for them. The Bulldogs have been dog sh$t fro the majority of 2021 but I have a feeling the injuries are starting to catch up to the Dragons (earlier in the week I was more confident with the home side). No Lomax or Ravalawa leaves the home side with much less punch than usual – the Dragons should win but I’m expecting a stuttering affair to end the round.
