NRL ROUND 17

Focus has shifted to Origins again, but there is the matter of four NRL games to handle this weekend. Off the back of a cracking NRL punting weekend I’m chomping at the bit to get stuck in again! Let’s take a look.

SEA EAGLES vs RAIDERS – Thu 08 July @ 11:50, Sydney

The Sea Eagles continue to soar whilst the Raiders continue to suck. Manly might be without their two main men in Daly Cherry-Evans and Tommy Turbo but the already struggling Canberra will also miss a few players. Off the back of a 66-0 shutout I just can’t see this Sea Eagles side taking their foot off the gas against a Raiders team who were humbled by the Titans last week.

RABBITOHS vs COWBOYS – Fri 09 Jul @ 11:55, Newcastle

The Bunnies are a side who have zero problem with scoring points a plenty whilst the Cowboys dropped back down to new lows as they were bashed about to the tune of 38-0 at the hands of the Knights last week. The one team has a four-match winning streak going and the other has only won one in the past four. The Rabbitohs will be far more disrupted due to Origins but it could also be said that Souths missing five players is far less of a blow than the North Queenslanders losing their only two real star attractions. Look out for Benji Marshall getting a run at hooker this week.

BULLDOGS vs ROOSTERS – Sat 10 Jul @ 11:35, Sydney

Where to from here for the Bulldogs?? The Dogs seem to have experienced a “dead-cat-bounce” in beating the Dragons in Round 14 as there has been little apart from that one showing to suggest that this Bulldogs side is a threat to any opponent. A young, attacking minded Roosters outfit is given a fresh canvas on this occasion to really express themselves. In consecutive weeks things could get very ugly for the Bulldogs.

SHARKS vs WARRIORS – Sun 11 Jul @ 08:05, Sydney

The Warriors somehow managed to pluck defeat from the jaws of victory last week. Being 18-6 up with ten to play one would feel bitterly disappointed to let things slide from that position of power. The Kiwi’s have now lost four on the trot and despite the Sharks swallowing an air bubble against the Broncos I still think they will have their teeth razor sharp and ready to chow down this week. Backing the Sharks to bounce back against a struggling Warriors outfit is my best bet of the weekend.
