Couch Critic previews the Week 14 NRL matches including his best bets and tryscorer specials with @Olimp_SA
NRL ROUND 14
The NRL circus doesn’t stop whilst fans are still dissecting the Blues’ bashing of the Maroons on Wednesday. The players have to lace up again and move onto week 14 and here are my thoughts on the round.
SEA EAGLES vs COWBOYS – Fri 11 Jun @ 10:00, Sydney
After his Origins heroics Tommy T is given a rest this week. The Cowboys have Marron representatives in the form of Val Holmes and Kyle Feldt in their ranks but give that they are outside backs I wouldn’t expect this to make such a big difference. The Queenslanders will be keen to bounce back and the Cowboys also have big Jason back in their midst.
Manly saw a three-match winning streak halted last time out whilst the Cowboys have shown an upward curve of late. I would have liked a slightly bigger cap to jump aboard the visitors this week but instead my focus will be on both teams contributing to a high scoring affair.
SHARKS VS PANTHERS – Fri 11 Jun @ 11:55, Sydney
The Panthers finally gave up their winning record last week in the absence of plenty of stars. Having tasted defeat against the Tigers, coach Cleary has stuck to his guns by keeping his Origins heroes on ice for this clash. The remaining Panthers will look to show that they are anything but toothless without their big names but the Sharks might just prove to have the nigger bite this weekend.
TITANS vs ROOSTERS – Sat 12 Jun @ 07:00, Gold Coast
Whilst the Roosters had the luxury of putting their feet up last week the Titans got theirs taken from underneath them as they weren’t quite able to weather the Storm. The Gold Coast side are starting to let a bright start to 2021 slip and need to turn things around asap. David Fifita and James Tedesco are the two big Origin representatives who have been named to start for their respective sides but things could still change before kickoff. I struggle to see the Roosters losing this one, but nothing excites me here.
RABBITOHS vs KNIGHTS – Sat 12 Jun @ 09:30, Sydney
Wayne Bennett looks set to keep Latrell and Cook involved whilst the Knights have little to get fire them up at this stage. The Bunnies should feed blissfully in Sydney on Saturday.
RAIDERS vs BRONCOS – Sat 12 Jun @ 11:35, Canberra
Nothing to see here! It’s 13th vs 15th and only their respective sets of fans could possibly find something to get excited by in this clash. If you do end up watching, look out for Karmichael Hunt making his return to the NRL.
WARRIORS vs STORM – Sun 13 Jun @ 06:00, Gosford
Another match and another business-like victory for the Melbourne side.
EELS vs TIGERS – Sun 13 Jun @ 08:05, Sydney
The Tigers are free-scoring at present whilst the Eels are stuttering. The home side should have the BMT and know-how to get the job done but they will struggle running away with the game in my opinion.
BULLDOGS vs DRAGONS – Mo 14 Jun @ 08:00, Sydney
No real fancy for me here but the Dragons will fancy their chances of posting a score.
