RugbyWorldCupLogoCouch Critic previews Wednesday's Rugby World Cup matches including Argentina v USA, Scotland v Russia and Wales v Fiji with best bets from @Olimp_SA

It’s the last week of group action and we are being treated with some mid-week action for the last time in this Rigby World Cup. With three matches taking lace on Wednesday it’s a betting heat that we just can’t afford to let pass by.

Argentina vs USA, Wednesday 09 October @ 06:45 (Kumagaya)

How I see it panning out

The Argentines haven’t been great, but they have also been on the wrong side of fortune with a few close calls and a late penalty kick not happening for them against France whilst they had to battle with a one-man handicap against England. This is Argentina’s last shot at a touch of redemption, and I see them going full out to end a disappointing campaign on a bit of a high. USA for their part will surely have one eye on their crucial meeting with Tonga on Sunday which provided them with their best chance of a victory at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

It might be the “boring” choice but look out for Montoya getting at the back of yet another rolling maul somewhere along the line whilst Delguy has looked full of running every time he’s been involved.

Betolimp Best Bet: Argentina to beat the handicap of -20.5 @ 1.91

Special Play 1: Anytime Tryscorer – Julian Montoya @ 1.72

Special Play 2: To score 2 or more tries – Bautista Delguy @ 4.40

Scotland vs Russia, Wednesday 09 October @ 09:45 (Shizuoka)

How I see it panning out

Before Scotland can move on to meeting Japan for the duel of all duels at high noon in Yokohama on Sunday they have to first pick up five log points against, what has proven to be, a plucky Russian side. Russia will end this World Cup without a victory but I’m expecting a few Vladimir’s, Dmitry’s, Yuri and Sergey to roll up their sleeves and give it one last proper bash against the Scots. Scotland have picked a largely second-string team considering their decider takes place only four days after this one.

With expecting Russia to fight hard early I don’t believe the Scots will be leading by plenty at the break. Greig Laidlaw is a fixture in the Scottish side and it can’t be easy playing in his shadow. George Horne gets a rare chance to shine behind the scrum and I’m looking for the scrumhalf to get over the chalk.

Special Play 1: 1st Half Winning Margin – Scotland by 6 to 10 points @ 6.50

Special Play 2: Anytime Tryscorer – George Horne @ 1.80

Wales vs Fiji, Wednesday 09 October @ 12:15 (Oita)

How I see it panning out

Fiji finally hit top gear in their second half against Georgia. When absolutely on-song they are a sight to behold and few can keep them out. But this is a Welsh team who is considered one of the very best in the world. They play a pragmatic style and won’t be trying anything flash. I expect the Europeans to systematically grind down the flamboyant islanders.

Wales know that they only have to get the “W” and move on to the Quarters. I see the Welsh setting their stall early doors and shutting out the Fijians. Fiji might pull a try or two back in the second stint as they throw the ball around with nothing to lose and possibly finish within 12 points of Wales. There is nothing “semi” about Radradra – the flying Fijian outside back was in devastating form last time out and in keeping with my theory his side might very well be scoring last here.

Betolimp Best Bet: Wales to beat the first half handicap of -8.5 @ 1.85

Special Play 1: HT/FT Winning margin – (Wales 9+ HT) / (Wales 1-12 FT) @ 12.20

Special Play 2: Last Tryscorer – Semi Radradra @ 19.00
