ireland19Couch Critic previews the second round of Six Nations rugby matches including his best bets with @Olimp_SA

The first weekend of Six Nations action produced some thrilling entertainment and excitement is building for another enticing weekend of top-flight rugby. Let’s take a look at the coming matches and try and pin down a few bets.

England vs Italy – Saturday 13 Feb @ 16:15, Twickenham

England are a proud (some might say cocky, arrogant, smug, egotistic…) nation and they will be hurting after tripping up last week. The brave Scots left the Poms eating humble pie on the hallowed turf of Twickenham and the Italians could very well be like lambs to the slaughter as Eddie Jones will be expecting a big bounce back from his chargers. But does good old Eddie have the firepower to really blow Franco’s fashionable fellas out the water?

Betolimp Bets:

First Tryscorer – Luke Cowan-Dickie @ 9.00

Last Tryscorers – Jamie George @ 11.00

England aren’t merely looking for a win, they want to make a statement. Kicking for the corner will surely happen at some stage – I’m hoping its both early on and right at death for these two bets to come in. Get in you beautiful hookers you!

Scotland vs Wales – Saturday 13 Feb @ 18:45, Edinburgh

The kilted ones shocked the world when they triumphed over Eddie and the boys. Backing it up is something that doesn’t always come naturally to the Scots so this is a big week for them. The Welsh might have pipped the 14-men Ireland but they are still a team low on confidence at present. If the home side are mentally up for it they should have it in them to get the job done.

Betolimp Bets:

HT/FT Margin – Scotland (1-8) / Scotland (1-12) @ 4.75

I doubt the Scots will put the boot in and run away with things so this looks a decent play against a Welsh side who usually bring teams down to their level.

Wincast – Duhan van der Merwe to score the First Try and Scotland to win @ 11.00

The RSA-Edinburgh product has hit European rugby by storm. I’m hoping he gets involved early to deliver form us here.

Ireland vs France – Sunday 14 Feb @ 17:00, Dublin

The Irish actually looked quite industrious with ball in hand last week and were it not for the one man handicap they would have cruised past the Welsh easily enough I reckon. But France are the glamour boys of the international scene at present and one struggles to see how Ireland are going to reign in their visitors and stop the Frenchies from celebrating Valentines Day sipping Champagne in Dublin whilst the home side look for tlc from their loved ones at home whilst hitting back a few single malts for the sorrow.

Betolimp Bets:

France -3.5 @ 1.91

Too much class, too much flair, too much to handle. The Irish players will have more chance of scoring at home than they do on the pitch on Sunday I believe.

Also:

HT/FT Margin (Ireland (1-8) / France (13+) @ 41.00

The price is a doozy and I don’t see this outcome being beyond the realms of possibility.

Additional Treble: Italy over 7.5 points / Scotland win / France win @ 4.79
