We suffered our first losing weekend last time out but there is no time to sit around and mope about it. Let’s not only get back in the pool but be Olympic and enter at the deep end of the back of a triple jump off the highest diving plank!

Blues vs Highlanders (Friday @ 08:35)

We all know that the Crusaders are comfortably the leading Kiwi team (as well as overall side) but behind them the other New Zealanders are still trying to decide on the remaining pecking order.

Verdict: The Canes fluffed the form lines by going down to the struggling Chiefs last week. This time around the more polished side should triumph and I back the Highlanders to have the mental edge over a brittle Blues team who can’t be trusted.

Best Bet: Highlanders to lead at Half Time and Full Time (Highlanders/Highlanders) @ 1.98 with BETOLIMP (Bronze Medal level of confidence)

Hurricanes vs Stormers (Saturday @ 08:35)

The Stormers embark on their tour and hit a familiar foe in John Plumtree first game up. The Capetonians might have handled the Jags with ease last week but their backline play is far from silky smooth. On the opposite side they will have some lethal blokes looking back at them. If the Saffas have any chance of coming close they will need to keep things unspectacular and grind it out amongst the big boys upfront.

Verdict: The dam wall will surely eventually break against a team with just too many strike runners to keep under shackles for a full 80 minutes. Canes to move clear in the end.

Best Bet: A speculative nibble on Stormers to lead at half time but Hurricanes to win the game (Stormers/Hurricanes)@ 5.15 with BETOLIMP (Bronze)

Waratahs vs Crusaders (Saturday @ 10:45)

Verdict: I haven’t been convinced by this Waratahs team and the defending champs with Codie Taylor and Sam Whitelock back on duty should be able to dish out a lesson. I’ll back the Crusaders to start in a hurry.

Best Bet: Crusaders to beat the 1st Half handicap of -5.5 @ 1.74 with BETOLIMP (Silver bet)

Sunwolves vs Lions (Saturday @ 12:55)

Despite suffering at the hands of a late comeback last time around the Wolves have impressed with the rugby they have played thus far. Against the Lions the forwards will be well challenged by a pack that have dominated most.

Verdict: The Lions have lost the services of Whiteley, Kwagga and Dylan Smith for this clash. The home side should run them close despite the lack of grunt in the pack remaining a concern for the Japs.

Best Bet: Sunwolves to stay within the handicap of +7.5 @ 1.82 with BETOLIMP (Bronze)

Bulls vs Chiefs (Saturday @ 15:05)

The struggling Chiefs recovered a bit of their lost pride by holding the Hurricanes to a draw in Hamilton. Showing further improvement away from home will however be tough against a Bulls team in form.

Verdict: An in-from team at home against a struggling one away from home comforts. The Bulls should be able to take care of business at Loftus.

Best Bet: Bulls to beat the handicap of -6.5 @ 1.85 with BETOLIMP (Silver)

Sharks vs Rebels (Saturday @ 17:15)

The Rebels suffered at the hands of the Highveld altitude, the heat and the frantic Lions approach to let the game slip at Ellispark. This time around it will be the humidity of Durban that they will have to overcome.

Verdict: Despite their loss this is a well organised Rebels outfit up against a Sharks side who seem to have a few internal issues floating around. I see the Aussies running the home side extremely close.

Best Bet: Rebels to remain within the handicap of +6.5 @ 1.78 with BETOLIMP (Bronze)

Reds vs Brumbies (Sunday @ 07:05)

Verdict: Sunday rugby returns for this Australian derby. The Reds picked up an important victory in Tokyo but the Brumbies have the more solid set piece which should see them take a narrow win.

Best Bet: Brumbies to win by 1-7 points @ 3.49 with BETOLIMP (Bronze).
