france19Couch Critic previews the Tri Nations clash between Australia and New Zealand, France v Ireland in the 6 Nations and this weekend's Mitre 10 action including best bets with @Olimp_SA

The Springboks might have withdrawn but Australia, New Zealand and the Argentines will get the Tri Nations going on Saturday. The Six Nations also has their first /last/only full round of action as we look to see who gets crowned Six Nations Champions. Oh, and in New Zealand the Mitre 10 marches toward the knockout stages.

Australia vs New Zealand – Saturday 31 Oct @ 10:45, ANZ Stadium Sydney

New Zealand bounced back from a disappointing showing in the opening Bledisloe Cup game to beat the Aussies by 20 points in Auckland a fortnight ago. This time the third encounter forms part of the newly formed Tri Nations and the Kiwis will have to take another step up when facing the Wallabies on their own turf – the bookies give the visitors a ten point head start for this one. Rennie has opted to bring in some fresh faces whilst the AB bench looks full of potential.

Betolimp Best Bet:

New Zealand -8.5 @ 1.82

It’s not often the Kiwis start a game at a singe digit handicap. Yes, they are a far cry from the all-dominant All Blacks we’ve seen over the past decade. One has to feel that they haven’t quite been able to identify their best starting line-up. But there is just too much individual quality in this side for me to look past the men in black picking up another victory over their old foe and doing so with a bit of room to spare.

France vs Ireland – Saturday 31 Oct @ 22:05, Stade de France

Ireland, England and France are separated by a single log point on the table. The Poms do however have the advantage of facing Italy whilst the Irish have to travel to France. By the time this match kicks off both these teams will know what they need to do if they are to lift the trophy – but I have a feeling victory will be the only thing on their minds.

Betolimp Best Bet:

France to win by over 14 points @8.75

The French are a team on the up at present. They have a solid pack of forwards who take pride in rolling up the sleeves whilst their backs love to give the ball some air. Les Blues are still a work in progress but they are starting to show some glimpses of what could be coming in the near future. Look out for the young halfback pairing of Du Point and N’tamack, if they are on song the Irish will have a tough time staying close.
