Southampton are on a disastrous run of Premier League form which now comprises of 6 straight defeats. They have conceded a total of 20 goals in that miserable run, 9 of which came in a recent visit to Manchester United whilst Arsenal (3-1), Villa (1-0) and Wolves (2-1) all left St. Mary's with maximum points.
By contrast Chelsea are going well and a 2-0 home win over Newcastle in midweek was their fourth consecutive 3 point haul and they are back in the top 4. They have taken 13 points from the 5 league since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard, keeping 4 clean sheets in the process.
Southampton are leaking goals left, right and centre and the goal threat they had earlier in the season when they drew 3-3 away to Chelsea has largely disappeared. However, the head to history of this fixture over recent seasons suggests goals and although we might need Southampton to improve dramatically, 3 goals or more in total still looks on.

Liverpool's late defensive collapse in a 3-1 defeat at Leicester last week means they are now 16 points behind league leaders Manchester City and the midweek results saw them drop down to sixth place. Liverpool have lost each of their last 3 league games and the last 3 at Anfield have seen Burnley, Brighton and Manchester City take maximum points. On the plus side Liverpool were 2-0 winners against Leipzig in a Champions League match staged in Budapest on Tuesday.
Everton lost 3-1 at home to Manchester City on Wednesday but they are still just 3 points behind Liverpool with a game in hand. Their better displays of late have come away from home including wins at Leicester, Sheffield United, Wolves and Leeds plus a 3-3 draw at Manchester United.
The teams drew 2-2 at Goodison Park earlier in the season and whilst Everton's record at Anfield is extremely poor, their away form suggests they can contribute to the scoring here. Both teams to find the net is our pick for leg 2.

That leaves us looking for a match result pick and on that front we pin our hopes on Fulham.
Scott Parker's side remain in the relegation zone but a win at Everton followed by a draw at Burnley has seen hopes they can avoid the drop raised considerably. They have developed a draw habit, finishing all square in 9 of the last 13 but the recent arrival of Josh Maja, who scored twice at Goodison Park last weekend provides extra firepower. There is still a long way to go but this is certainly the sort of game Fulham really have to win if they are to get out of trouble.
Sheffield United remain bottom of the standings after a 3-0 defeat in London at West Ham in midweek. They have generally battled on well all season despite finding points so hard to come by but they are 2 points adrift of West Brom, 8 points shy of Fulham and 14 behind fourth bottom Newcastle. The Blades have won 1 drawn 1 and lost 10 of their EPL road trips and although they haven't raised the white flag just yet, another defeat could well be on the cards here.
