English Premier League football continues this weekend and we have put together a treble for the matches taking place on Sunday 20th September with the odds boosted by @Olimp_SA
Although last week's treble started well with over 2.5 goals in the West Brom v Leicester game it fell apart thereafter and we go again this weekend. We stick with the same match result, over 2.5 goals and both teams to score format for Sunday's fixtures and the odds have been boosted to 8.50.
Leg 1 Southampton v Spurs
Both these sides lost their opening matches last week with the Saints going down 1-0 at Crystal Palace whilst Spurs let favourite backers down with a 1-0 home defeat to Everton. To be fair to Southampton they were only denied a goal or two by some inspired goalkeeping and confidence shouldn't have been dented too much ahead of this first home game of the season.
Spurs had few excuses last week and a visit to Bulgaria for a Europa League qualifier on Thursday is arguably an unwelcome distraction. However they did start with Kane and Son up front against Everton and at the time of writing there is talk of Gareth Bale returning to the club. Spurs rarely fire blanks when Kane and Son are fit and although this is a potentially awkward game we fancy both sides will find the net.
Prediction: Both teams to score
Leg 2 Newcastle v Brighton
Newcastle started with a 2-0 win away to West Ham last week and they will be delighted that two new signings, Wilson and Hendrick both scored on debut. In midweek Ryan Fraser, another new recruit ,was on target in the EFL Cup and the boost to the attacking talent is significant for a side who were hardly free scoring last season.
Brighton went down 3-1 at home to Chelsea on Monday and will view this game as a more realistic opportunity to open their points account. They still look a little short of firepower this season and although these two sides look pretty evenly matched on paper, Newcastle's feel good factor from last week's win earns them the vote.
Prediction: Newcastle to win
Leg 3 Chelsea v Liverpool
That leaves us looking for an over 2.5 goals pick and hopefully the game of the weekend will oblige.
Werner and Havertz, two of Chelsea's expensive new signings, made their debuts in the 3-1 win at Brighton and whilst neither scored they will no doubt take heart from the winning start. This will give us an early indication as to Chelsea's chances of mounting a title challenge this season and the outright betting markets suggest they are the main threat to Liverpool and Manchester City.
Liverpool started their defence of the title as short price favourites to win at home to newly promoted Leeds. They managed to secure maximum points but only thanks to an 88th minute penalty from Mo Salah (to complete his hat trick) which earned a 4-3 win. It was a terrific contest which Leeds threatened to claim at least a draw from and whilst Liverpool will surely have blown a few cobwebs away, the goals they conceded will offer Chelsea's abundance of attacking talent plenty of encouragement.
Liverpool completed a league double over Chelsea last season winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and 5-3 at Anfield. A game of 3 goals or more, regardless of who comes out on top, rounds off this week's treble.
Prediction: Over 2.5 goals
