spurs1819Matches from three big European leagues on Sunday 27th September make up our weekend football treble with the odds boosted by @Olimp_SA

We had no joy last weekend with just 1 of the 3 legs arriving and we are 0 from 2 at the start of the new season. We stick with the same match result, over 2.5 goals and both teams to score format for Sunday's fixtures with a more conservative set of picks but the odds have been boosted to 4.80 by @Olimp_SA

Leg 1 Spurs v Newcastle

Spurs had few excuses in a 1-0 defeat to Everton first time out but they caught fire in the second half of a Week 2 visit to Southampton, romping to a 5-1 victory. Son scored 4 of the Spurs goals, all set up by Harry Kane who was also on target. The return of new signing Gareth Bale might have to wait a little longer as he recovers from injury but his arrival will be a further boost to the club.

Newcastle started with a 2-0 win away to West Ham thanks to debut goals for Wilson and Hendrick but they disappointed last week in a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton. They were in trouble early doors against an enterprising Brighton side and never got into the game.

There was a deluge of goals in many of last weeks EPL fixtures and whilst Newcastle might not be overly adventurous an early goal for Spurs would draw them out. Our first leg is a game of 3 goals or more in total.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Leg 2 Crotone v AC Milan

Serie A is next stop and newly promoted Crotone had a tough baptism last week when they were thrashed 4-1 at Genoa. Teams promoted to the Italian top flight usually find it tough going and although they will relish a glamour first home game, last week's evidence doesn't bode well.

Outright betting in Serie A suggests AC Milan have plenty to find to challenge the likes of Inter and Juventus but they started with a 2-0 home win over Bologna with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring in both halves. Milan were favourites to win that game and you can understand the short price quotes for them to follow up here. We need to find a match result somewhere from Sunday's televised matches and Milan would seem to fit the bill.

Prediction: Newcastle to win

Leg 3 Barcelona v Villarreal

Last stop is La Liga and a first league game of the season for Barcelona. It's the start of a new era for Barca who have had a turbulent time since being thrashed by Bayern Munich in the latter stages of last season's Champions League. How tuned up they will be is open to question after a series of low key friendly matches but there is enough talent in their ranks to find the net here.

Villarreal have already played 2 league games under new coach Unai Emery. The first was a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Huesca and last week they were 2-1 winners at home to Eibar. They now travel for the first time and although Villarreal haven't really fired as yet they have an abundance of talent and are expected to push for a top 4 finish this season.

Six of the last 8 La Liga head to heads between these sides have seen both sides find the net and after 2 outings the visitors should now be ready to do themselves justice and at least contribute to the scoring here.

Prediction: Both teams to score
