newcastle1718@ZAPunter provides his betting tips for the English Premier League match between Newcastle and Brighton which takes place on Saturday 21st September

NEWCASTLE VS BRIGHTON, SATURDAY @ 18.30

Brighton make the long trip up to St. James Park this Saturday for their 6th game of the Premier League season. The two teams are separated by 1 point and both teams have just won once so far. Brighton conceded a late goal against Burnley to draw the match, while Newcastle opened the scoring against Liverpool only to lose 3-1 at the end.  Both teams see this game as a 6 pointer in the fight to stay in the Premier League. So far we have seen a much more adventurous Brighton compared to the last couple of seasons, playing free flowing football under new manager Graham Potter. Newcastle is looking to put the turmoil of the off-season behind them and find their feet under newly appointed manager Steve Bruce. Both teams desperately need to points in this match and we should see a feisty up North.

NEWCASTLE:

The Toon looked capable vs Liverpool and new signing Willems scored a cracker, unfortunately defensive errors and the quality of Liverpool’s players were too much on the day. Magpie fans are still not convinced by Bruce and games like this is in must win territory for the boyhood Newcastle fan. Bruce understands what the club means to the people of the city and would hate to be the one sending them down. Newcastle has shown some glimpses of their ability and they will feel Brighton is a team they can get at and grind out a result. Newcastle’s xGf is 0.81 and xGa 1.68, showing that their performances have been below par and if they don’t improve the Toon will be in the Championship next season. No new injuries for Newcastle and Schar looks to have shaken off the knock and will be ready for the weekend.

BRIGHTON:

The Seagulls started their campaign with a bang after a 3-0 away victory against Watford and since then their results haven’t been impressive. Since Potter arrived at the club he changed their philosophy and it was always expected that they would need time to adapt. New signings Maupay and Trossard has been excellent, but the latter will miss Saturday’s encounter. Brighton’s xGf is 1.48 and xGa 1.16, showing that they have deserved more than one win out of their performances. Seagulls fans were angered by the sacking of former manager Houghton, but they got easily attracted by Potter’s style. Biggest miss for them will be Trossard who has an injury problem.

PROBABLE LINE-UPS:

Newcastle: 5-4-1

Dubravka,

Krafth, Schar, Lascelles, Dummett, Willems,

Almiron, Hayden, Shelvey, Atsu,

Joelinton.

Brighton: 3-4-3

Ryan,

Duffy, Dunk, Webster,

March, Propper, Stephens, Burn,

Gross, Maupay, Murray.

PREDICTION:

This one has Newcastle United victory written all over it, but with a safety net, it’s even better. I know the Toon army will be right behind their players and give them the needed boost to get a positive result here. It’s never easy for South Coast teams to go play up north, especially against a team that’s desperate for a result. Brighton has struggled when they are pressed and Bruce has done it every time Newcastle plays at home. 3 points expected, Howay the Lads!
