NRL ROUND 19 – THURSDAY & FRIDAY MATCHES

The Bunnies made us sweat a bit but in the end Round 18 went down in the books as one of the best thus far with all our weekend’s main bets coming in. Let’s dig into Round 19 as we look to keep the good times rolling.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS vs CANTERBURY BULLDOGS – Thu 17 Sep @ 11:50, ANZ Sydney

The Story thus far

The Rabbitohs are operating at a high level at present and seem to be coming into the knockout stage of the comp in good touch. The poor Bulldogs again came up short last week and are still rooted to the bottom of the table.

Verdict

The Bunnies should have way too much fire power for the Doggies. Souths took their foot of the pedal last week and I’m sure the talk in the camp this week will be about keeping up their efforts for the full 80.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Fri 18 Sep @ 10:00, Townsville

The Story thus far

The Cowboys have had a dismal 2020 but in their last two outings beat the Dragons and managed four tries against a usually air-tight Storm defence. This week the North Queenslanders will again have to try and unlock a sound defensive system in the form of the table topping Panthers.

Verdict

Penrith have been incredibly consistent and haven’t slacked off one bit thus far. The visitors should keep their good times rolling but the handicap is perhaps a touch tougher to call with confidence.

PARRAMATTA EELS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS – Fri 18 Sep @ 11:55, Bankwest Sydney

The Story thus far

Parramatta are the only team in the top six that have lost more than one game in their last five outings (they have lost three). They are also the only team in the top eight with more losses than wins in this period. Of course Brisbane have a horrific “streak” of their own going so if there’s one team the Eels could fancy getting their confidence back against…

Verdict

The Broncos really have offered little and even a stuttering Eels outfit should be able to put them away with some room to spare, but I certainly won’t be betting the family farm on this one.

BETOLIMP BEST BETS (in order of preference)

Double: Rabbitohs to lead at HT onto Panthers to lead at HT @ 1.61

Additional:

HT/FT Margin: Rabbitohs (9+) / Rabbitohs (1-12)

I see the Bunnies charging out the gate and getting the job done before possibly cruising home – this might give the Bulldogs a chance for a late score or two.

HT/FT Margin: Panthers (9+) / Panthers (1-12)

The Panthers have been superb with their first half defence whilst the Cowboys have shown themselves capable of being a scoring threat for the entire 80.

Tryscorers

Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs

The Bulldogs should still be good for a try or two and the Canterbury fullback is available at a nice price.

Cowboys vs Panthers

At close to evens I am happy to stick with my man Stephen.

Eels vs Broncos

Staggs has managed 10 tires in only 12 appearances. The Broncos centre has a great chance to add to his tally against the Eels.
