Couch Critic previews the NRL matches taking place on the 26th and 27th of September including best bets and tryscorer specials with @Olimp_SA
Let’s take a look at the weekend fixtures for Round 20 of the NRL.
CANTERBURY BULLDOGS vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Sat 26 Sep @ 07:00, ANZ Sydney
Canterbury are fresh off only their third win of the season yet have the unenviable task of facing the table topping Panthers. Penrith haven’t cleared the starting sheet quite like some others this weekend but Dylan Edwards along with Crichton and Billy Kicks have certainly earned their week off this week. The men in black should still have too much fire power for the Bulldogs.
CRONULLA SHARKS vs CANBERRA RAIDERS – Sat 26 Sep @ 09:30, Sydney
The Raiders would have been well fancied to take care of business against a Sharks team missing Shaun Johnson and Sione Katoa. Yet mass resting sees Canberra take to field in this one without the likes of Nicoll-Klokstad, Williams, Croker, Bateman and Papalii. As such this is again a difficult match to call with any confidence.
WEST TIGERS vs PARRAMATTA EELS – Sat 26 Sep @ 11:35, Bankwest Sydney
The Roosters are showing glimpses of tuning up the band at exactly the right time of the season. That being said this Sharks outfit know how to get themselves over the whitewash when Shaun Johnson is running the show. I expect the Sharks to stay in the fight in this one. The Tigers have had little to get excited by in the latter part of the tournament and I expect the Eels to get the job done here as they look to wrestle back some momentum heading into the layoffs.
NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS vs MANLY SEA EAGLES – Sun 27 Sep @ 06:00, Central Coast
The Warriors have fought hard during this campaign and given their injury setbacks as well as loss of home ground they haven’t done too badly at all. Manly on the other hand slumped to some disappointing results after a bright start to the season and their 2020 can surely not end fast enough. The mood in the Manly camp must be dismal whilst I’m hoping the New Zealanders try and give it everything one last time. There is a bit of value in backing the Warriors I feel.
DRAGONS vs MELBOURNE STORM – Sun 27 Sep @ 08:05, Sydney
The second placed Storm have made whole-sale changes for this dead-rubber as very few of their first-choice stars will run out in this one. The Saints have had a dismal 2020 and will try out a new combination in the halves. I won’t be betting the farm on this match between two un-known quantities.
