Couch Critic previews the NRL matches taking place on the 30th and 31st of July including best bets brought to you by @Olimp_SA
NRL ROUND 12 – THURSDAY & FRIDAY MATCHES
Sunday was a major let-down with the Knights and Panthers failing to perform as expected. We’re heading into the Indigenous Round and here’s how I see things going down.
DRAGONS vs SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS – Thu 30 July @ 11:50, Netstrata Jubilee Sydney
The Story thus far
Both teams go into this one off the back of a loss and they sit right next to each other on the ladder with the Bunnies in tenth and the Saints 11th. Neither team has shown that they deserve a spot in the top eight thus far. On the team news front Latrell Mitchell returns.
Verdict
The Rabbitohs have narrowly come up short to the Raiders and the Knights which is hardly a disgrace so it’s no surprised that they are fancied to get the job done in this one. But the Dragons have shown they are very capable of scoring tries and if you ant to have a go here I would say the value lies with the Dragons.
WEST TIGERS vs NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS – Fri 31 July @ 10:00, SCG Sydney
The Story thus far
Both the Tigers and the Warriors met intimidating opponents last week and neither let themselves down. The Warriors were particularly brave in keeping the much-fancied Roosters honest. The men from the West of Sydney currently sit just outside the Top 8. The New Zealanders will once again have even more players unavailable this week.
Verdict
The Tigers are given plenty of respect for this clash. The Warriors have shown they usually have plenty of bottle whilst the West perhaps go “walk about” a bit at times but they do have plenty of players operating at a high level at present.
BRISBANE BRONCOS vs CRONULLA SHARKS – Fri 31 July @ 11:55, Suncorp Brisbane
The Story thus far
One of these sides has won four of their last five matches and sits seventh on the log. The other has lost four out of five and lie second from the bottom. Had someone said this prior to the restart of the season you would have expected it was Cronulla in the second instance and the Broncos I the first scenario but alas it is not the case - Brisbane is in dire straits a present.
Verdict
For forty odd minutes there was some fight from Brisbane in Round 11 but eventually they once again went belly-up against the Storm. This week they host an in-form Sharks side who should be been to put the strugglers to the sword and pile on their misery.

Dragons vs Rabbitohs: Half Time / Full Time – Dragons / Rabbitohs @ 6.76

Broncos vs Sharks: Alternative Handicap – Sharks -16.5 @ 3.87
Tryscorers
Dragons vs Rabbitohs
Ravalawa is a winger in form and even if the Rabbitohs do get the win I still see the Dragons getting a few tries. The returning Mitchell has a decent chance of getting the match sealing score.
Tigers vs Warriors
The hooker is in superb form in 2020 and has an eye for the tryline whilst Nofoaluma is one try off the lead in terms of tryscorers.
Broncos vs Sharks
The leading tryscore rin the comp will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing off against the hapless Broncos.
