nrl.logo@HDiemont previews the NRL matches taking place on the 4th and 5th of July including best bets brought to you by @Olimp_SA

Let’s take a look at the weekend fixtures for Round 8 of the NRL.

GOLD COAST TITANS vs CRONULLA SHARKS – Sat 04 July @ 07:00, Cbus Super Stadium

The Story thus far

The Titans were able to pick up their second victory of the season by beating the Broncos last week. The Sharks are only one win and two ladder spots better off than the Gold Coast side so they will fancy their chances of tripping up the Cronulla men.

Verdict

The Sharks have had their struggles but with Shaun Johnson firing they have gone back to back over the past fortnight. I expect the Sharks to have a profitable day on attack.

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS vs BRISBANE BRONCOS – Sat 04 July @ 09:30, Central Coast Stadium

The Story thus far

Will the Broncos slump to a disastrous sixth straight loss? One would not have thought this sentence would ever be uttered, but there it is – the return to NRL action has been a dreadful one for Brisbane. The Warriors have lost a coach as well as a home bases yet aren’t in as bad a place as their opponents despite letting in 50 against the Storm this past weekend.

Verdict

The Broncos need to turn individual talent into team performance. Unfortunately, it seems a long way away and the strong favouritism the way of Brisbane can’t be justified. The value lies with siding with the Warriors in this one.

WEST TIGERS vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Sat 04 July @ 11:35, Bankwest Stadium

The Story thus far

This promises to be an exciting clash between two sides going great guns at present.

Verdict

There is the fear that the Panthers might run out of puff after a few tough games but on the face of it they have to be fancied in this clash. Yes the likes of Harry Grant have been superb for the Tigers but I see the Panthers winning this cat-fight with a bit of room to spare.

MANLY SEA EAGLES vs NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS – Sun 05 July @ 08:05, Lottoland

The Story thus far

Manly finally return to their favourite patch but the mood in the camp won’t be great after being well beaten by Cronulla in Week 6 off the back of missing their key man Tommy Turbo. The Knights are also not in a great place having slipped up against the Cowboys.

Verdict

Both teams re decent outfits who aren’t suddenly poor teams after one disappointing effort. For mind Newcastle deserve their favourites tag considering the huge effect Tommy’s loss has on this Sea Eagles side.

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS vs SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS – Sun 05 July @ 10:30, Bankwest Stadium

The Story thus far

The Bulldogs remain rooted to the bottom of the ladder and despite stuttering against the high-flying Panthers the Bunnies should be favoured to get the job done over the struggling Canterbury.

Verdict

Looking at the likes of Latrell, Walker and Reynolds there is just way too much class and potential in this South Sydney side to not take seriously. Things could get messy for the Dogs.
