Let’s take a look at the weekend fixtures for Round 17 of the NRL.
CANTERBURY BULLDOGS vs GOLD COAST TITANS – Sat 05 Sep @ 07:00, ANZ Sydney
Despite sitting in bottom spot the Bulldogs have often pitched up for the fight – a case in point being this past weekend when they ran in four tries against the Raiders. The Titans however have been able to get over the line and chalk up a few victories. This experience of getting the “W” should hold the Gold Coast side in good stead for this clash.
MANLY SEA EAGLES vs WEST TIGERS – Sat 05 Sep @ 09:30, Lottoland Sydney
The poor Sea Eagles have now slumped to five straight losses and one struggles to see them make it into the playoffs. Their opponents, the Tigers have experienced a similar script. In their last five outings the Wests lost to the Warriors, got smashed by the Knights, squeaked past the Bulldogs and were soundly beaten by the Roosters and Penrith. This really is a clash between two strugglers.
CANBERRA RAIDERS vs SYDNEY ROOSTERS – Sat 05 Sep @ 11:35, Canberra
In contrast to the match preceding it, this time around who have two teams on the up and very much in the title fight going at it in Canberra. The Raiders have struggled putting a 90-minute performance together but have shown their ability to get over the chalk when they do eventually click – scoring six tries in each of their last three outings. The Roosters have welcomed back some stars and one gets the feeling that this is exactly the time of the year when the Premiers start to tune up the band.
NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS vs PARRAMATTA EELS – Sun 06 Sep @ 08:05, Central Coast
It might be number three against nine but the Warriors have a pep in their step at present whilst the Eels have unexpectedly suffered defeats to the likes of the Dragons and received a humbling hammering from the Rabbitohs last week. Parramatta are really struggle for form at present but looking at this side on paper, you just can’t see them losing this clash.
NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS vs DRAGONS – Sun 06 Sep @ 10:30, Townsville
The 2020 season is ending in flames for the Cowboys as their form has gone from bad to worse since the mid-way point of the comp. Incredibly the last victory for the North Queenslanders came in Round 7 and much like their neighbours, the Broncos they must be devoid of any confidence at present. The Dragons have lacked consistency but have more going for them than their hosts.
