Let’s take a look at the weekend fixtures for Round 13 of the NRL.
MELBOURNE STORM vs CANTERBURY BULLDOGS – Sat 08 August @ 07:00, Sunshine Coast
Melbourne are arguably the form team in the comp at present (they are on a six-match winning streak) and also sit 2nd overall. The Bulldogs are still rooted to the bottom of the table yet have pushed the Eels all the way and beat the Knights in a shock result over the past two weeks. Cam Smith and Papenhuyzen will sit out this one and I believe the Doggies will make the Storm sweat for the “W” in this one.
NEWCASTEL KNIGHTS vs WEST TIGERS – Sat 08 Aug @ 09:30, Newcastle
Both teams have been up and down of late. Newcastle will miss Bradman Best whilst the Tigers are without Harry Grant. Look out for Blake Green straight into the starting line-up for the Knights. The value might lie with a Tigers win but the Knights will surely be bitterly keen to notch up a victory and without Grant for the visitors this should be possible.
PENRITH PANTHERS vs CANBERA RAIDERS – Sat 08 Aug @ 11:35, Penrith
The Raiders have managed a few decent wins of late, but the Panthers are playing at their own level at present. There are dangers all across the park from the home side and I don’t see this cap being big enough to trouble Penrith.
GOLD COAST TITANS vs NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS – Sun 09 Aug @ 06:00, Gold Coast
It’s number thirteen versus 14 in the Gold Coast on Sunday. The Cowboys haven’t won a game in their past five outings and it certainly wouldn’t come as a big surprise to see the Gold Coasters picking up the two points over their neighbours up the road. That being said the Cowboys are still the more impressive outfit and they surely have to sort themselves out sooner rather than later.
CRONULLA SHARKS vs PARRAMATTA EELS – Sun 09 Aug @ 08:05, Sydney
After their dramatic last ten-minute shift against the Broncos last week, the Sharks are now faced with having to get past the Eels to keep their new-found momentum going. Parramatta seem to have hit a bit of a midseason slump and will have to re capture their form if they are to keep the dangerous Cronulla at bay.
