Scotland vs Wales (Saturday 16:15)

Wales has been the toast of the town in 2019 as they boast a three from three record and sit proudly atop the Six Nations log. Scotland for their part only have a solitary victory at home to Italy to talk about and have gone backward rather than forward thus far in the competition. Injuries have also not been kind to the Scots.

There have been two big talking points in the world of rugby this past week or two – one is the Global Season issue and the other the amalgamation of Scarlets and Ospreys. The merger could have significant influences on some of the Welsh players and could detract from their on-field performance at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Verdict: Wales have loads of momentum in their favour and despite off-field issues I don’t see them slipping up against the kilted ones who haven’t enjoyed a good tournament what so ever.

BETOLIMP Best Bet: Wales to beat the handicap of -3.5 @ 1.83

England vs Italy (Saturday 18:45)

Every week we expect Italy to finally get handed a beating. This week is no different as English supporters will be out in their numbers expecting their lethal team to turn Twickers into a blood bath. Thus far the Italians have rolled up their sleeves on each occasion made their more fancied opponents work until the final whistle to secure the victory.

Ireland vs France (Sunday @ 17:00)

Ireland have been nowhere near the levels that saw them emerge as one of the favourites for World Cup glory at the end of the year. France on the other hand could be on the fringe of a revival in their game. After suffering a dramatic come-from-behind loss to the Welsh at home Les Blues were humiliated at Twickenham by England (44-8). But out of the ashes of despair they rose again to beat Scotland with relative ease.

Something almost as unexpected as salad at a Sunday braai in Benoni is the fact that the French will go into this class with an entirely unchanged 23-man squad. There might still be a few issues with this squad but at least there is now some continuity.

Verdict: The French have surely not improved enough (nor Ireland lapsed far enough) for them to win this but they should be right in the contest throughout.

BETOLIMP Best Bet: I am taking an alternative double here; Italy +39.5 onto France +20.5 @ 1.96
