BettingDiaryWe take a look at the 2nd weekend of Autumn Nations Cup matches from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the Outright Betting after Week 1 and England have firmed into 15/20 favourites from last week’s 9/10, France are 7/2, Ireland 9/2, Scotland 7/1 and you can get 50/1 and better the balance.

ENGLAND v IRELAND – Click here to bet

England v Ireland meet at Twickenham on Saturday and both teams opened their campaigns with victories.

England were far too strong for Georgia winning 40-0 which is very much where the handicap for the match had been set. England went into that game as Six Nations Champions having hammered Italy by 29 points in Rome.

Ireland were too strong for Wales last week winning 32-9 in Dublin, comfortably beating the 10 point handicap. Prior to that they were beaten in the last round of Six Nations action by 8 points in Paris.

England have won 6 and lost 1 of their last 7 home matches against Ireland and in February this year they ran out convincing 24-12 winners when the sides met at Twickenham.

BETTING

England 2/9

Draw 30/1

Ireland 4/1

Handicap: England (-11.5) at 9/10, Ireland (+11.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Handicap, England (-11.5) at 9/10

Despite Ireland winning well against Wales I wasn’t impressed with them last week and I think that England can win this game quite comfortably.

WALES v GEORGIA – Click here to bet

The first thing to note here is that this match is not taking place at the Millennium Stadium under a roof, but in Llanelli where the weather is often poor.

Wales will be looking to improve on a poor showing last week against Ireland and prior to that they were beaten by Scotland at home.

Georgia have been campaigning to be part of the Six Nations, but they were well beaten by England last week losing by 40 points and failing to trouble the scorers. They were also well beaten by Scotland in a warm-up match

BETTING

Wales 1/50

Draw 70/1

Georgia 35/1

Handicap: Wales (-27.5) at 9/10, Georgia (+27.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Georgia (+27.5) at 9/10

I would imagine that Georgia could be targeting this game and with Wales likely to ring the changes Georgia can keep them honest and keep the winning margin respectable.

SCOTLAND v FRANCE – Click here to bet

This match takes place at Murrayfield on Sunday and Scotland will be looking to improve on last week’s showing which saw them beat Italy 28-17 on the road, a game in which they had to come back to win. They were impressive in their final Six Nations game beating Wales 14-10 on the road.

France’s match against Fiji was cancelled last week due to COVID-19, but they had looked in good form before that beating Ireland at home in the Six Nations and Wales at home in a warm-up game.

Scotland have a good recent home record against France winning their last 4 including in March of this year where they won 28-17.

BETTING

Scotland 21/10

Draw 25/1

France 4/9

Handicap: Scotland (+6.5) at 9/10, France (-6.5) at 9/10

Suggested Bet: Handicap, France (-6.5) at 9/10

This French team looks to be building nicely towards Rugby World Cup 2023 and while I can see this being a close game, I think they will pack too many guns for the Scots and will win going away.
