BettingDiaryEngland were far too strong for Ireland in the 1st ODI winning by 6 wickets and with 22 overs to spare. We stay at the same venue in Southampton for the 2nd ODI on Saturday.

On Thursday England won the toss and elected to field and they soon had Ireland under pressure as opening bowler Willey tore through the top order. He ended up with five wickets and the Man of the Match award as Ireland were bowled out for a 172 in just under 45 overs. There was very little resistance from the Irish batsmen although South African born Campher managed 59 not out.

England had few problems knocking off the runs losing just 4 wickets and Top Scorer was Billings with 67 not out off just 54 balls. Young got two wickets for the Irish, but he went at 7 an over.

There is once again little value in getting involved in the match betting where England are trading as short as 1/14 and it is to the exotics that we will turn again.

Suggested Bet: Jonny Bairstow, Over 4.5 fours at 8/10

Bairstow let us down in the first ODI when he was dismissed for just 2 and I am hoping that he makes up for it on Saturday as he will really be looking to prove himself to the selectors.

Suggested Bet: Total Match Sixes, England over 7.5 at 1/1.

For this bet to arrive we almost certainly need England to bat first and if they do I would be very surprised if we don’t get 8 balls clearing the boundary as they managed three, batting second, chasing a low score and despite not being under pressure.
