BettingDiaryAston Villa at home to West Ham in the English Premier League is Monday’s sports betting highlight and we take a closer look at the game in our Betting Diary.

FOOTBALL

Aston Villa have had a tough start to life in the English Premier League winning 1 and losing 3 of their first 4 matches. This will be their third home game having lost 2-1 to Bournemouth and beaten Everton 2-0. They face a West Ham side that started slowly with a 5-0 defeat at home to Manchester City, but then drew away at Brighton, beat Watford 3-1 and beat Norwich 2-0 at home. These sides haven't met in the Premier League since 2015/2016 season when this fixture was drawn 1-1.

Looking at the betting Aston Villa are 17/10 for the win, 12/5 the draw and West Ham are 33/20 at the time of writing. Popular markets include both teams to score, yes or no, where yes is trading at 5/10 and no at 15/10 and over or under 2.5 goals where over is 6/10 and under is 5/4. There are plenty of other markets including half-time, full-time, correct score, first goal scorer and any time goal scorer.

We are not convinced there is going to be a rush of goals in this game and think the 5/4 that there are 2 goals or less in the match could be some value.

Kick-off is at 21h00 if you are in South Africa and you can click here for all of the betting markets.

HORSE RACING

Local Horse Racing is at Flamingo Park in Kimberley on Monday and the action gets going  at 12h10 with the 9th and final race scheduled to go off at 16h35. The shortest price favourite for the day comes in the first race, a sprint over 1000 metres where Great Prosperity is currently 6/10.

Our value play for the day though is in the 5th race run over 2200 metres where Holy Flame horse No. 3 is currently priced at 15/2 a win and 9/8 a Top 3 finish.
