engodiThe fifth and final One Day International between England and Pakistan takes place in Leeds on Sunday and the hosts have already clinched what has been a high scoring series

England made it 3-0 with a 3 wicket victory at Nottingham on Friday. Pakistan batted first and Babar Azam top scored with 115 whilst there were 50’s for Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Haffez in their total of 340/7.

In the chase Jason Roy was in the runs again with 114 runs off just 89 balls. There was still work to do when Roy departed and Ben Stokes proved equal to the task, finishing unbeaten on 71 as England got home with just 3 balls to spare.

Earlier in the week England won the third ODI by 6 wickets at Bristol, chasing down 359 for victory with 5.1 overs to spare. In the second contest England’s victory margin at Southampton was 12 runs as they defended a bat first total of 373/3. No result had been possible in the series opener so Pakistan are still without a victory despite some decent efforts by their batting line up.

This was how the teams lined up at Nottingham on Friday

England: James Vince, Jos Buttler, Joe Denly, Joe Denly, Jofra Archer, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Joe Root, Tom Curran, Adil Rashid

Pakistan:
Sarfaraz Ahmed (c & wk), Junaid Khan, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Asif Ali, Imad Wasim, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain

After this the series concludes in Leeds on Sunday..

Head to Head

Overall the teams have met 86 times in this format with England winning 52 and Pakistan 31 with 3 no results.

Verdict:

Pakistan will want to salvage something from a series where they have been more competitive than the match result betting for this final game suggests. However this England batting line up is formidable and the home side will be equally keen to extend their winning streak.

Babar Azam came through for us with a 50 in the fourth ODI and whilst the price for him to knock up another half century is shorter for Sunday’s game, he still looks worth following.

Bets: Batsman to score a Fifty in the match, Babar Azam? (yes) at 13/8
