CWC India150India clash with West Indies in the Cricket World Cup at Old Trafford, Manchester on Thursday and coming into the game India remain unbeaten.

India:

India were fancied to dish out a hiding to Afghanistan in Southampton on Saturday but as it turned out they survived a major scare in holding on for an 11 run victory. India won the toss and opted to bat first, a big score was expected but they were restricted to just 224/8 with Kohli top scoring with 67 and Kedar Jadhav made 52. Afghanistan made a reasonable start to the chase but having being 106/2 at one stage they fell away and the innings closed on 213 all out (49.5 overs). Mohammed Shami was top Indian bowler with figures of 4/40 which included a hat trick.

Earlier results saw India beat South Africa by 6 wickets, Australia by 36 runs, a scheduled meeting with New Zealand was completely washed out and they beat Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS).

Rohit Sharma is leading run scorer for India with 320, Virat Kohli has 244 and Shikhar Dhawan (injured and out of the tournament) made 125. With the ball Chahal has taken 8 wickets whilst Bumrah has 7.

This was how India lined up against Afghanistan.

West Indies:

West Indies needed to beat New Zealand in Manchester on Saturday to stay in contention for a semi final place, it was agonizingly close but in a thrilling finish they came up 5 runs short.

Sheldon Cottrell removed both New Zealand openers in the first over of the game and finished up with 4 wickets in total but New Zealand recovered to post 291/8. West Indies were without Andre Russell and injury to Evin Lewis in the field saw him drop way down the batting order. Chris Gayle made 87 and Shimron Hetmyer 54 but at 167/4 it looked like game over. Enter Carlos Brathwaite who hit 101 off 82 balls only to be the last man out off the final ball of the 49th over with the Windies score on 286.

That defeat leaves West Indies without a win since their opening match when they beat Pakistan by 7 wickets. Other subsequent results include a 14 run defeat to Australia, an abandoned game against South Africa, an 8 wicket defeat to England and a 7 wicket loss to Bangladesh.

Chris Gayle is leading run scorer for West Indies with 194, Shai Hope has 187 and Shimron Hetmyer has 171. Sheldon Cottrell is leading wicket taker for West Indies with 9, Oshane Thomas has 7 and Andre Russell and Brathwaite both have 5.

This is how West Indies lined up against New Zealand last time out.

Verdict:

Although they fought hard against New Zealand at the weekend West Indies only win so far is becoming a distant memory. India were way below par against Afghanistan at the weekend and their batsmen should be more at home at Old Trafford although the betting interest centre’s on one of their bowlers.

Jasprit Bumrah has not been prolific in terms of taking wickets but he is likely to be used at stages of the game where Windies are swinging hardest. With 1 point per run, 20 points per wicket and 10 per catch awarded in the Player Performance market, he should beat this quote.

Suggested Bets:

Player Performance, Jasprit Bumrah, over 39.5 at 9/10
