Mumbai Indians hosted Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, it produced another pretty high scoring game on this ground but Mumbai were beaten by 4 wickets. Rohit Sharma (47) returned to the Mumbai line up after missing the previous match and he put on 96 for the first stick with Quinton de Kock who went on to make 81. However Mumbai never really capitalized in the second half of their innings which closed on 187/5. The Royals, who had won just once this season, scented a chance and they chased it down with 3 balls to spare despite Jasprit Bumrah’s figures of 2/23.

Mumbai had won their previous 3 matches and their overall record now comprises 4 wins and 3 defeats.

 

 

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB were also in action on Saturday, away to the Kings XI and they finally broke their duck at the seventh time of asking. RCB were tasked with chasing 174 for victory in Mohali where the Kings XI had won their first 3 matches. Virat Kohli made 67 and when he went AB de Villiers took control to finish unbeaten on 59 as RCB got up with 4 balls remaining for an 8 wicket win.

RCB had lost their first 6 matches of the tournament and earlier results away from home saw them thumped at Chennai by 7 wickets and at the Sunrisers by 118 runs. They also lost away to the Royals by 7 wickets.

The teams met in Bangalore in Match 7 and Mumbai held on to win by 6 runs in a thrilling game. Rohit Sharma’s 48 helped Mumbai post 187/8 in that game and that total looked under serious threat with AB de Villiers hitting top gear. However the death bowling was good enough for Mumbai with Jasprit Bumrah returning stand out figures of 3/20.
