ProteasAfter dishing out a record hiding to England in the ICC Cricket World Cup at the weekend South Africa remain in Mumbai for their next assignment which comes against Bangladesh on Tuesday

South Africa

The Proteas have played 4 matches, winning 3 and losing 1. Their only defeat was a big surprise when they went down to the Netherlands by 38 runs last Tuesday but they bounced back by thrashing England by 229 runs at this venue on Saturday.

Proteas captain Temba Bavuma was taken ill before the England game and didn't play and Reeza Hendriks stepped in and hit 85. Markam (42) and van der Dussen (60) also made healthy contributions but it was a 67 ball 109 by Heinrich Klaasen which propelled South Africa to 399/7.

Gerald Coetzee took 3 England wickets and Ngidi and Jansen both struck twice as England crumbled to 170 all out with number 10 batsmen Mark Wood making 43 of their runs.

The Proteas started with 2 comfortable wins. They came out on top against Sri Lanka by all of 102 runs after posting a mammoth total of 428/5 with tons for Quinton de Kock, van der Dussen and Markram. Next time out the Proteas took on Australia and they won by 134 runs. Quinton de Kock was in the runs again, top scoring with 109.

The Verdict

After the shock defeat to the Netherlands the Proteas were excellent against England but they still have Pakistan, New Zealand and India to face before they finish up against Afghanistan so the road to the semi finals is still a long one.

I'll look to the Proteas top bat and ball markets for a betting interest.

Marco Jansen is having a good tournament and his price to be SA's top wicket taker looks fair enough to me. As far as the top SA run scorer is concerned it's competitive but my preference is for van der Dussen.

Bets: Top SA Wicket Taker Marco Jansen at 4/1 with Sportingbet
Top SA Run Scorer Rasie van der Dussen at 4/1 with Sportingbet
