After suffering a huge disappointment in the Champions League in midweek Manchester United switch focus to the FA Cup and a quarter final tie at home to Brighton on Saturday.
United booked their quarter final spot with a 2-0 win at Huddersfield in the previous round and they have yet to concede a goal in their cup run so far. In the earlier rounds they cruised to a 4-0 win away at minnows Yeovil in the fourth round. Previously they left it late before seeing off Championship promotion hopefuls Derby in the third round at Old Trafford, eventually coming through as 2-0 winners.
In this competition last season United exited at the quarter final stage, going down 1-0 at Chelsea but they did lift this trophy in 2015/16. After a surprise Champions League defeat to Sevilla (2-1) at Old Trafford in midweek, this is the last remaining opportunity to land silverware this season.
In the Premier League United are in second spot, 4 points clear of Spurs but 16 behind Manchester City and their home record comprises of 12 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat with 33 goals scored and 7 conceded.
Brighton’s cup run started with a 2-1 home win over Crystal Palace and they subsequently won 1-0 at Championship side Middlesbrough and 3-1 at home to Coventry. .
Preserving Premier League status has been the main target all season and they are making a good job of that with 3 successive home wins taking them 7 points clear of the drop zone. Brighton have found it tough going away from home in the league, winning just 2, drawing 4 and losing 9 with 7 goals scored and 19 conceded.

Brighton put in a good shift in a narrow defeat in a league game here earlier in the season and that performance is likely to be the blueprint for how they go about this task. It’s knockout football and we can expect United to come out firing after the defeat to Sevilla. I think we will see goals but perhaps not a bag full.
Bet: Total goals 2-3 at 19/20
