We are down to the last eight teams in the FA Cup and the first of the quarter finals sees Swansea host Spurs on Saturday.
The pattern to Swansea’s cup run has so far comprised of drawing away from home and winning the replay in front of their own supporters. In the previous round they drew 0-0 at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday before finishing the job with a 2-0 home win. They also beat Championship high fliers Wolves in the third round, coming through the replay with a 2-1 win after another 0-0 draw in the first meeting. A fourth round tie with Notts County finished locked up at 1-1 and Swansea made short work of the replay with an 8-1 victory.
In the Premier League Swansea are 4 points clear of the drop zone and they have won their last 4 Premier League home games.
Spurs started their cup run with a 3-0 home win over Wimbledon before they dodged a bullet in the fourth round at Newport, drawing 1-1 away from home and winning the replay 2-0. It was a similar story against another minnows Rochdale in the previous round with Spurs drawing 2-2 away from home before sealing their quarter final spot with a 6-1 win.
Since the previous round Spurs have exited the Champions League at the hands of Juventus which leaves this competition as the only chance of a trophy this season.
In the Premier League Spurs have moved into third on the back of a 4 match winning streak but they could be without Harry Kane for some time after he picked up an ankle injury in last week’s 4-1 win at Bournemouth.
Recent Head to Head
02/01/18 EPL Swansea 0-2 Spurs
16/09/17 EPL Spurs 1-0 Swansea
Note, odds quoted are an approximate average and are correct at the time of last update but are subject to change
Swansea are on a roll at home but they still have work to do to avoid a nervy end to the season whilst Spurs must surely now see this competition as a top priority alongside securing a top 4 finish.
The FA Cup has been something of nightmare for me this season and I’ll nothing more than a speculative play on the correct score of 2-1 to the visitors.
Bet: Correct Score, Spurs to win 2-1 at 33/4
