Burnley

Time is running out for Burnley who, at the time of writing were third from bottom, 3 points behind Everton who have played one game fewer. If Everton were to beat Leicester a day before this game takes place there will be even more pressure on Burnley who have 7 games left to preserve top flight status.

Burnley began life without Sean Dyche with a 1-1 draw away to West Ham on Sunday, Weghorst gave them a first half lead but they were pegged back on 74 minutes and they also lost Westwood to a nasty looking injury. Mike Jackson was in charge on Sunday and keeper Nick Pope helped prize out a point. After this they host Wolves, visit Watford and home games against Villa and Newcastle in May come either side of trips to Spurs and another clash with Villa.

Burnley beat Everton 3-2 in their most recent home game but after that they suffered a damaging 2-0 defeat at Norwich.

Southampton

Going into last weekend's home game against Arsenal the Saints were in poor form, losing 4 and drawing 1 of their previous 5 league games. However they came through with a 1-0 win thanks to a Bednarek goal just before half time and with 39 points they are safe from any threat of relegation.

Recent Head to Head

The first league meeting this season was staged in October and it finished 2-2 with Cornet scoring in each half for Burnley.

Last season's league meetings saw Southampton complete the double, winning 1-0 at Turf Moor and 3-2 at St. Marys.

The Betting

Burnley are currently 17/10 to win the game with the draw at 49/20 and Southampton can be backed at 33/20

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 10/11 and it's 7/10 for both teams to score.

The Verdict:

Burnley's players reacted pretty well to the shock change in coach in terms of their display at West Ham, this is a different conundrum and with Saints finding some form again it's a tough call in my book.

I'm going to speculate with a couple of small plays with Sunbet including Wout Weghorst to score with a header at a nice price and the home side to win 2-1

Bets: Wout Weghorst to score with a header ? Yes at 9/1

Correct score, Burnley win 2-1 at 17/2
