Manchester City are the holders of this trophy and given their round of 16 opponents Southampton shipped 9 goals at home to Leicester in a league game last week it's hard to see anything other than a home win although the betting appeal for me is very limited.
Speaking of Leicester they make the short trip to Burton of League 1. Burton made it to the semi finals last year where they lost the first leg 9-1 to Manchester City and although they took Bournemouth's scalp in the previous round they face a tough task here. I'll take a flyer on the team news and hope Leicester field a strong enough line up to win a game of 3 goals or more in total.
League 2 sides Crawley and Colchester have the opportunity to reach the last 8. Crawley have knocked out Norwich and Stoke so far and Colchester beat Crystal Palace and then Spurs, both on penalty kicks. Colchester are 3 points better off than Crawley in the League 2 standings but earlier this month Crawley beat them 2-1 at this venue. It looks a tricky game to call.
Oxford and Sunderland are both in League 1 and Oxford are in much better shape in terms of current form in that tier. Oxford thrashed West Ham 4-0 in the previous round but Sunderland have won at Burnley and Sheffield United. The teams drew 1-1 at Sunderland in a league meeting this season and both of last season's head to heads also finished 1-1. I'd suggest both teams to score? (yes) is the way to go here.
Everton and Watford are both having tough season's in the Premier League. Although Everton were 1-0 winners in a league meeting at Goodison earlier in the campaign and could well be the right ones but this is a game where it could pay to wait for confirmed line ups.
