chelsea1819Our featured English Premier League match on Sunday sees Chelsea host Leicester City and the home side are odds on favourites to bounce back from a heavy defeat last week.

Chelsea

Frank Lampard's first English Premier League game in charge of Chelsea ended in misery as his side were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford last Sunday. Chelsea were a goal down on 18 minutes and they conceded 3 more in the second half of a game where Giroud and Kante were left out of the starting line up.

That duo were restored for the midweek Uefa Super Cup clash with Liverpool in Istanbul and Chelsea were much improved, drawing the game 2-2 (1-1 90 mins) before losing the penalty shoot out. Giroud gave Chelsea a first half lead and after Liverpool forced extra time and then took the lead a Jorginho penalty saw the game go to a shoot out which Chelsea lost 5-4.

Chelsea's record at Stamford Bridge last season comprised of 12 wins, 6 draws and 1 defeat and the sole loss came against Sunday's opponents Leicester. Of those 19 home games last season 9 saw backers of over 2.5 goals collect.

Leicester

Leicester started their season with a 0-0 draw at home to Wolves. Despite losing Harry Magurie to Manchester United before the transfer windw closed they kept a clean sheet but at the other end of the park they had to wait until the 86th minute to register a first shot on target.

On their travels last season Leicester won 7, drew 4 and lost 8 and 10 of those matches saw backers of over 2.5 goals collect.

Recent Head to Head

Leicester were 1-0 winners at Stamford Bridge last season with Jamie Vardy scoring the decisive goal early in the second half. The return in Leicester finished without a goal.

The Betting

After last week's result at Old Trafford Sportingbet moved Chelsea out to 66/1 to win the title, 16/1 in the betting without Manchester City and 2/1 to finish in the top 4.

As for this game Chelsea are favouites at around 8/11 with the draw trading at 27/10 and Leicester are a 4/1 chance.

Under 2.5 total match goals is priced at 8/10 with over 2.5 goals around even money and both teams to score? (yes) is 9/10.

Verdict:

Chelsea were much improved in the Super Cup in midweek but I'm still pretty open minded about which way this game could go. I was tempted by the draw but a couple of match result bets last weekend where I favoured the draw went pear shaped.

On this occasion I will go with either side to win by a single goal margin.

Bet: Any team to win by 1 goal exactly? (yes) at 14/10 with Sportingbet
