The pick of the games on the English Premier League weekend coupon takes place at Stamford Bridge on Sunday when Chelsea take on Liverpool
Chelsea opened up with a 3-1 win at Brighton on Monday night, a game which saw debuts handed to Werner and Havertz. Jorginho gave Chelsea a first half lead from the penalty spot and after Brighton equalized early in the second half James and Zouma put Chelsea back in charge.
Chelsea finished fourth last season and they have been by far the most active of the title contenders when it comes to transfer activity. Chelsea's title odds are now around 17/2 (from 9/1) whilst they are 5/4 in the market without Manchester City and Liverpool.
Liverpool started their defence of the title with a hard earned 4-3 win at home to newly promoted Leeds last week. Mo Salah scored a hat trick, rounded off by an 88th minute penalty. Liverpool were never behind in that game but Leeds refused to lie down and were unlucky in defeat.
At the time of writing Liverpool had reportedly agreed a deal to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for an initial fee of £20m whilst full back Kostas Tsimikas joined from Olympiakos earlier in the transfer window. In the current betting for the 2020/21 EPL season Liverpool are trading at around 2/1 to defend their title, behind Manchester City who are 17/20.
Recent Head to Head
Liverpool completed a league double over Chelsea last season winning 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and 5-3 at Anfield.
In the match result betting Chelsea are 43/20 to win the game with the draw at 11/4 and Liverpool are 12/10.
It's 5/10 for both teams to find the net and around 11/20 for a game of 3 goals or more in total.
Note all odds quoted are subject to change
Based on last week's evidence I can see Chelsea giving Liverpool problems although I'm open minded about the match result. Conceding 3 goals at home (to Leeds) was a rarity for the champions and far from what we saw last season when sides visiting Anfield struggled to get on the score sheet.
The goals markets are where I'm heading with both teams to score in a game of 3 or more the headline pick.
I'll also go with Chelsea marquee signing Timo Werner to open his account – anytime.
Both teams to score? (yes) and over 2.5 total goals at 15/20
Anytime goalscorer Timo Werner at 16/10
