Palace

Palace finished a pretty decent twelfth in the standings last season and they were solid at Selhurst Park with 7 wins, 8 draws and 4 defeats, scoring 27 goals and conceding 17. As far as total goals were concerned 9 of their 19 home games went over 2.5.

Cheick Doucoure has been recruited from Lens for £21m and USA defender Chris Richards has joined from Bayern Munich.

Playabets have the Palace total season points range in the region of 47-49 and Zaha is 9/10 to be their top goalscorer. They are 9/4 to finish in the top half of the table and 6/1 to be relegated.

Arsenal

Arsenal looked on course for a top 4 finish last season but they were collared late on by Spurs and came in fifth in the standings. Their away record comprised of 9 wins, just the 1 draw and 9 defeats with 26 goals scored and 31 conceded. As far as total goals were concerned 11 of their 19 road trips went over 2.5.

Gabriel Jesus is the headline recruit from Manchester City for £45m alongside Fabio Vieira (Porto, £34m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (Manchester City, £32m)

Playabets have Arsenal priced at 28/1 to win the title and they are 5/1 in the market without Manchester City and Liverpool. Jesus is 12/1 to win the Premier League Golden Boot and the Gunners are 4/1 to be top London club.

Recent Head to Head

Last season Palace were 3-0 winners at Selhurst Park and the teams drew 2-2 at The Emirates.

Of the last 10 EPL head to heads 8 have gone over 2.5 goals.

The Betting

Palace are currently 3.32/1 to win the game with the draw at 2.73/1 and Arsenal can be backed at 0.82/1

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 0.87/1 and it's 8/10 for both teams to score.

Jesus is 4.95/1 to score the first goal and 17/10 to score any time markets

Zaha is 7/1 to score the first goal and 2.56/1 to score any time markets

The Verdict:

Both sides have had decent pre-season's and it should be a good contest to get us under way. I'm not particularly strong on anything and tend to be cautious in the early rounds of a new season. However, I will speculate with a goals market “combo” bet where my gut feel is that we can see goals for both sides in the

second half, but not in the first.

Jesus should have a decent season in front of goal, he scored a hat trick in a 6-0 friendly win over Sevilla in pre-season and he is my idea of an anytime goalscorer here.

Bets: 1st/2nd Half Both Teams to Score No/Yes at 2.83/1

Anytime goalscorer Jesus at 17/10
