The English Premier League continues on Saturday 4th October and we have come up with a couple of anytime goalscorer picks for Everton v Brighton and Leeds v Manchester City
Let's begin with a look at Saturday's EPL coupon. Remember prices are subject to change.
The early kick off is a London derby between Chelsea and Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea got out of jail with a 3-3 draw away to West Brom last week, a game they trailed 3-0 at half time. That still represents points dropped for a side with title aspiration and after a 3-1 win at Brighton and 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool Lampard's team have 4 points from 3 outings and for me they might be best left alone right now. Palace won their first 2 matches, 1-0 at home to Southampton and 3-1 at Manchester United before losing 2-1 at home to Everton last week. They have lost the last 4 EPL head to heads with Chelsea including a 2-0 defeat in the corresponding fixture last season.
Everton are 1 of 3 sides with a 3 from 3 record after wins at Spurs (1-0), home to West Brom (5-2) and at Palace (2-1). Brighton were desperately unlucky to go down 3-2 at home to Manchester United last week. They had started with a 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea but did win 3-0 at Newcastle and they have been playing some good football.
The stand out game for me is Leeds v Manchester City. Since losing 4-3 at Liverpool on the opening weekend Leeds have won 4-3 at home to Fulham and 1-0 at Sheffield United. They now take aim at City who have had their injury problem, especially up front. However it was their defence that was in the spotlight after last week's 5-2 home defeat to Leicester whilst their only other league outing so far delivered a 3-1 win at Wolves. I expect Leeds to give this a real go and it should be worth a watch.
Finally Newcastle come into their home game against Burnley with 4 points after a very fortunate 1-1 draw at Spurs last weekend whilst their only home game so far delivered a 3-0 defeat to Brighton. Although they should fancy their chances against a Burnley side who have lost both their matches and have had their own injury problems, enthusiasm to get involved in this one is in short supply.
Suggested Bets for Saturday:
Everton v Brighton Anytime goal scorer Calvert Lewin at 13/10 (the Everton striker looks to have really come of age and with his side in form he should he could well be on target again here)
Leeds v Manchester City Anytime goalscorer De Bruyne at 17/10 (with Aguero and Jesus injured the goal scoring duties fall heavily on Sterling and De Bruyne and on price the latter appeals most.
