Bournemouth snapped a 4 match losing sequence with a 2-1 home win over Huddersfield in midweek and they finished the round in seventh spot. Overall 12 of 15 of their fixtures have seen backers of over 2.5 goals collect including 6 of 8 home games. When hosting top sides this season they have lost 2-1 to both Arsenal and Manchester United and they drew 2-2 with Everton.

Liverpool made a number of changes to their line up for their midweek visit to Burnley and despite resting the first choice strike force and conceding first they hit back to win 3-1. They remain unbeaten with 12 wins and the 3 draws which came against teams who, at the time of writing, occupy top 5 positions. Only 7 of 15 Liverpool matches have gone over 2.5 goals including 4 of 8 road trips. After this Liverpool will host Napoli in a do or die Champions League clash.

Liverpool won this fixture 4-0 last season and 3-0 at Anfield but they did lose a thriller by the odd goal in 7 on this ground 2 seasons back.

Verdict:

Although Liverpool have been keeping regular clean sheets I fancy Bournemouth can get on the scoresheet here. However given Liverpool’s winning habit and the fact Bournemouth have been coming up just short against the stronger sides I still reckon the visitors will come out on top.

Arsenal v Huddersfield

Arsenal 3/10 Draw 5/1 Huddersfield 37/4

I was going to swerve this game before I saw odds against for the Gunners to score 3 goals or more. A 4-2 home win over Spurs and 2-2 draw away to Manchester United in the past week means they are now 13 games unbeaten, a run which comprises of 10 wins and 3 draws.

Huddersfield have visited just 1 top 5 side this season and they crashed 6-1 at Manchester City. They have also conceded 3 at Watford and Leicester and they were 2-0 down early doors in their 2-1 midweek defeat at Bournemouth. Europa League distractions are not a factor for the Gunners until the knockout rounds and I fancy they can find the net at least 3 times here.

Bet: Home team goals, 3 or more at 21/20

Chelsea v Manchester City

Chelsea have been below par of late. They did win their most recent home game 2-0 against Fulham without really putting it together and either side of that they lost 3-1 at Spurs and most recently 2-1 at Wolves. Having been on the heels of the league leaders for much of the season they are now 10 points behind City. At home to top sides this season Chelsea were 3-2 winners against Arsenal in Week 2 and they have since played out draws with Liverpool (1-1) and Manchester United (2-2).

City were 2-1 winners at Watford in midweek to maintain their 2 point lead over Liverpool at the top of the log. They have 13 wins and 2 draws against their name and in 7 road trips (5 wins, 2 draws) they have scored 15 goals and conceded just 2. Away to top sides City have won 2-0 at Arsenal and 1-0 at Spurs. They played out a 0-0 draw at Liverpool and the only other game where they dropped points came in a 1-1 draw at Wolves.

City won both of last season’s league meetings by a 1-0 scoreline.

Verdict:

On current form it’s tempting to take the away win especially after Chelsea surrendered a lead to lose at Wolves in midweek. However I’m not overly keen on the match result at odds on with Chelsea players sure to have copped some harsh words from their coach who is suffering his first “wobble” since taking over.

I’ll look to 2-3 goals in total which fits the bill for me as I do think we will see goals but not necessarily a bucket full.

Bet: Total goals 2-3 at even money

Leicester v Spurs

Leicester remain in midtable, unbeaten in their last 6 matches although 4 of those have finished all square. They didn’t create an awful lot in a 1-1 draw at Fulham in midweek and they haven’t faced a top 4 contender since a 3-1 loss at Arsenal, their last defeat in a league game. At home to top sides they lost 2-1 to Liverpool whilst Everton also won here by the same scoreline.

After a 4-2 beating in the North London derby at Arsenal last weekend Spurs returned to the winners enclosure with a 3-1 home win over Southampton on Wednesday night. That victory moved them up to third and they have tended to bounce straight back from any defeat this season. Although they lost an earlier road trip at Watford pretty early in the season, 7 other away games have been won by Spurs and that record is still the best in the top flight.

Verdict:

I think that away record could be enough to warrant including Spurs here but in case they come unstuck in defence after a shaky display at the Emirates a week ago, my preference is for the visitors to score at least twice.

Bet: Spurs total goals, over 1.5 at 17/20
