Football ManCity120Three English Premier League matches take place on Sunday and two of them have short price favourites in the shape of Manchester City, who visit Bournemouth, and Spurs who host Newcastle.

Also on Sunday Wolves are at home to Burnley and let's begin with a look at Sunday's match results and total goals coupon from Sunbet who incidentally make Manchester City 5/10 favourites to win the title with Liverpool at 5/2 and Spurs at 20/1.

Bournemouth v Manchester City

Bournemouth are unbeaten after a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United was followed by a 2-1 win at Aston Villa where strikers King and Wilson were both on target. Both those oppponents were promoted from the Championship last season and Bournemouth now face the favourites for the title. At home to top 6 finishers last season Bournemouth lost 2-1 to Manchester United and Arsenal and 4-0 to Liverpool. They turned it on to thump Chelsea 4-0 but lost 1-0 to City and at the end of the season they were 1-0 winners against Spurs.

City had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Spurs last weekend with Sterling opening the scoring with his fourth goal of the season and Ageuro added the second either side of Spurs' equalizers. City also had what they thought was a late Jesus winner chalked off by VAR. Sterling had grabbed a hat trick in the 5-0 win at West Ham on the opening weekend where Jseus and Aguero were the other scorers.

City have completed the double over Bournemouth in each of the last 4 seasons and they have kept a clean sheet on 3 of their 4 Premier League visits to this venue.

Verdict:

I'm going to try something different here and look to a City player to provide an “assist”. This market is not available at all bookmakers but you can get on at Sunbet and my idea of the provider of a goal here is Kevin De Bruyne.

Spurs v Newcastle

Lamela and Lucas were the Spurs scorers away at City at the weekend whilst on Matchday 1 Ndombele brought them level late on at home to Aston Villa and Harry Kane added 2 more to make it 3-1.

Newcastle started with a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal and the alarm bells will be ringing after a hapless display in a 3-1 defeat at Norwich last weekend where Shelvey's late consolation goal was the only positive. Newcastle finished Round 2 as one of four teams to lose both their opening matches. When visiting top 6 finishers last season Newcastle lost at Manchester City (2-1), Manchester United (3-2), Liverpool (4-0), Chelsea (2-1), Spurs (1-0) and Arsenal (2-0).

Son scored the winner inside the last 10 minutes of the corresponding fixture last season and when the teams met on Tyneside early in the 2018/19 campaign Spurs won 2-1.

Verdict:

This looks a similar sort of test for Spurs to what Aston Villa provided on Matchday 1 and looking at the stats for that game the eye opener for me was a corner count which came in at 14-0 in favour of Spurs.

I would hope Newcastle could contribute to the tally in some way given set pieces might be their best chance of a goal and with a healthy count for Spurs I'll wager we nudge past 10.

Sunday's bets:

Bournemouth v Manchester City Kevin De Bruyne Assist at 13/10.

Spurs v Newcastle, over 10.5 corners at 9/10
