Football Liverpool120Liverpool host Leicester and Arsenal visit Wolves in the English Premier League on Thursday and we look to the goals markets for a bet in both games.

Liverpool 1 / 4 Draw 11/2 Leicester 88/10

Liverpool came into the midweek program 9 points behind Manchester City. City are at home to Brentford on Wednesday night so that lead may well have stretched but Liverpool will have 2 games in hand. They have coped well without Salah and Mane who have been on AFCON duty, winning a couple of league games at home Brentford (3-0) and away at Palace (3-1), reaching the EFL Cup final with a 2-0 aggregate win over Arsenal and progressing in the FA Cup. Reports suggest Salah is back could play some part but Mane stayed with Senegal to celebrate and won't be available. New signing Luis Diaz is another option.

Leicester are under pressure after last week's 4-1 FA Cup exit away to Nottingham Forest and they are no higher than mid table in the EPL standings. Their first 3 league matches of 2022 were postponed and since then they lost 3-2 at home to Spurs and drew 1-1 at home to Brighton. Their last league win came against Liverpool in December, 1-0 in a home fixture. Vardy and Evans remain on the sidelines with injury.

The Verdict:

Little has gone right for Leicester since they turned Liverpool over in December and as the odds suggest, they are up against it here. I'm with the mutigoals option of 3-4 in total and an Alexander Arnold assist.

Bets: Multigoals 3-4 at 13/10

Player Assists Alexander-Arnold 1 or more at 2/1

Wolves 2.43/1 Draw 21/10 Arsenal 5/4

Wolves have won 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 league outings and they have climbed into the top half of the standings with a total of 34 points from 21 games. They were beaten in the FA Cup at the weekend, somewhat surprisingly bowing out after a 1-0 home defeat to Norwich.

The Gunners put a 4 match winning streak together in December before they were unlucky to go down 2-1 at home to Manchester City on the first day of 2022. Since then its gone badly wrong. They drew their only league game 0-0 at home to Burnley, lost their EFL Cup semi final to Liverpool and lost 1-0 in the FA Cup at Nottingham Forest. They are 2 points better off than Wolves and have games in hand on the likes of West Ham and Manchester United in the race for a top 4 finish.

The Verdict:

Given their league form I was surprised to see Wolves beaten in the cup at the weekend although how much of a factor that should be is hard to gauge. Meanwhile Arsenal lost Aubameyang in the transfer window and failed to land a replacement.

It looks a tricky call to me but there is a big carrot for both teams in terms of gaining ground on top 4 finish rivals and I will go with the goals markets and a tally of 2-3 in total, regardless of who comes out on top.

Bets: Multigoals 2-3 at 0.97/1
