facupLiverpool and Chelsea contest the final of the FA Cup at Wembley on Saturday, Liverpool start as favourites and we take a look at a number of betting markets available to punters.

Liverpool

Liverpool booked their place in the final thanks to an excellent first half display in their semi final match up with Manchester City. Konate and Mane (2) had them 3-0 up by half time and although City scored early and late in the second half, Liverpool had done enough.

Their cup run started with home wins over Shrewsbury (4-1), Cardiff (3-1) and then Norwich (2-1) and they were 1-0 winners at Nottingham Forest in the quarter finals.

Liverpool have already beaten Chelsea in the EFL Cup final this season, they will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League Final but they would need Manchester City to cough up a 3-0 lead in the Premier League title race to land that particular trophy and there are only 2 rounds of matches to go.

Chelsea

Chelsea were matched with Crystal Palace for their semi final and second half goals from Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount clinched a comfortable 2-0 win.

Chelsea's cup run started with home wins over Chesterfield (5-1) and Plymouth (2-1 aet). They went on to win 3-2 away at Luton and then came through a potentially tricky quarter final with a 2-0 win at Middlesbrough.

This is Chelsea's only hope for a domestic trophy this season (they did win the Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup). They look highly likely to finish in the top 4 of the Premier League where recent form has been erratic (2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats in their last 6) but they do have Lukaku back in form after he scored twice in a 2-2 draw at home to Wolves and he was also on target in a 3-0 win at Leeds on Wednesday.

Recent Head to Head

When the teams met in the EFL Cup Final at Wembley at the end of February an entertaining game somehow finished without a goal and Liverpool came through after a marathon penalty shoot out with 10 players from each side on target before Liverpool goalkepper emerged as the hero, scoring his spot kick after Chelsea keeper Arrizabalaga (who had been brought on for the shoot out) missed his.

The first league meeting this season was staged at Anfield in August and despite playing more than half the game with 10 men Chelsea came away with a 1-1 draw.

The return at Stamford Bridge took place in early January, Mane and Salah had Liverpool 2-0 up inside half an hour but Kovacic and Pulisic pulled Chelsea level by half time and the game finished 2-2.

The Betting (90 mins)

Liverpool are currently 21/20 to win the game in regulation time with the draw at 49/20 and Chelsea can be backed at 13/5

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 17/20 and it's 4/6 for both teams to score.

Mo Salah is 4/1 to score the first goal and 13/10 to score any time

Lukaku is 8/1 to score the first goal and 29/10 to score any time

Liverpool are 7/1 to win 1-0 and Chelsea are 10/1 to come out on top by the same scoreline, a 1-1 draw is priced at 11/2

To lift the trophy via any method of victory Liverpool are 11/20 and Chelsea can be backed at 6/4

The Verdict:

Both sides have had marathon season's and Liverpool's squad has proved the better although this is a one off contest and there has been nothing between the sides in the recent head to heads.

Aside from a miss match between Man City and Watford recent FA Cup finals have been settled by a single goal margin and after much consideration Liverpool to win by 1 goal exactly is a tentative choice. For additional interest I will go with Salah to score any time.

Bets: Liverpool to win by exactly 1 goal (90 mins) at 11/4

Anytime goalscorer Mo Salah at 13/10
