Manchester City:

City come into the weekend with a 6 point lead over Liverpool at the top of the standings but they have played 1 game more and Liverpool host West Ham a day before this match. Their most recent home game delivered a surprise 3-2 defeat to Spurs but they got back on track with a 1-0 win at Everton last weekend and made further progress in the FA Cup with a win at Peterborough in midweek.

City's only other home defeat came against Palace at the end of October, after which they went 15 league games unbeaten with 14 of those matches ending in victory.

Manchester United

United are unbeaten in their last 8 league games but 4 of those finished all square including draws against relegation candidates, at Burnley (1-1) and most recently at home to Watford (0-0). Their most recent EPL road trip ended in a 4-2 win at Leeds and they drew 1-1 against Atletico in Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash.

United are currently fourth in the standings, 2 points clear of West Ham and Arsenal, Spurs are still in contention for a top 4 finish as well and the North London duo both have games in hand.

Recent Head to Head

The first league meeting this season was staged at Old Trafford in November and City were 2-0 winners.

Last season's meeting at The Etihad Stadium saw United won 2-0 and the Reds also won here in 2019/20 by a 2-1 scoreline.

The Betting

Manchester City are currently 21/50 to win the game with the draw at 18/5 and Man United can be backed at 15/2

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 6/10 and it's 15/20 for both teams to score.

Sterling is 24/5 to score the first goal and 6/4 to score anytime

Ronaldo is 8/1 to score the first goal of the game and 13/5 to score anytime

The Verdict:

If Liverpool win on Saturday there will be more pressure on City but although they have tripped up against United at this venue in the last 2 season's I believe they will come through this test.

I'm going with City to win in a game where both sides find the net and I'm also taking City to score in both halves.

Bets: City to win and both teams to score? (yes) at 15/8

City to score in both halves? (yes) 21/20
