liverpool1819The pick of the FA Cup fourth round fixtures is undoubtedly Sunday's clash between Manchester United and Liverpool and the match result betting market has a wide open look to it.

Manchester United 16/10 Draw 53/20 Liverpool 16/10 (90 mins)

Man United

United's third round tie at home to Championship side Watford was settled by an early strike from McTominay , the only goal of the game. The subsequent draw for the fourth round sees United remain at Old Trafford and if they win here that will also be the case in Round 5 when they will take on the winner of West Ham v Doncaster. In the betting to lift the FA Cup this season United are trading at around 11.5/1

In the EPL United are top of standings, 2 points clear of Manchester City (who have a game in hand) and Leicester with Liverpool now 6 points adrift in fourth. United are unbeaten in 13 league games with 10 wins and 3 draws.

Liverpool's task in the third round was made pretty straight forward as Aston Villa were forced to play their U23 side due to a Covid outbreak and Liverpool came through with a 4-1 victory.

In contrast to United, Liverpool's league form is disintegrating. They lost 1-0 at home to Burnley in midweek, a first league defeat at Anfield since April 2017. A run of 5 league games without a win (3 draws and 2 defeats) has seen them concede significant ground in the title race and they have scored just once in that sequence.

In the betting to lift the FA Cup this season Liverpool are trading at around 13/2.

Recent Head to Head.

The teams met on 17th December in the EPL at Anfield and a game of few chances ended 0-0.

Last season's league meetings saw Liverpool win 2-0 at Anfield in January whilst an earlier league meeting at Old Trafford finished all square at 1-1.

The last 9 Premier League head to heads have delivered 6 draws, 2 wins for Liverpool and 1 for United

The Goals Markets

A game of 3 goals or more in total is priced at around 15/20 and it's 13/20 for both sides to find the net in 90 minutes.

It's 5/4 against United scoring at least twice and 12/10 for Liverpool to do likewise.

A repeat of the recent 0-0 draw these teams played out in a Premier League clash at Anfield is an 11/1 chance.

The Verdict

The recent league meeting between the sides never hit the heights but this is knockout football and hopefully the neutral's will see some goals.

It's hard to know what to make of Liverpool's recent miserable run but it might mean the FA Cup is now more of a priority than it would have been a month or so ago.

I will go with a game of at least 3 goals with both sides to score in 90 minutes

Bet: Over 2.5 total goals and both teams to score? (yes) at even money.
