Manchester United

United crashed to a 4-1 defeat away to City in the Manchester derby last weekend, a defeat which saw them finish the round in fifth position, 1 point behind Arsenal who also have 3 games in hand.

Prior to that United were unbeaten in 8 league games but 4 of those finished all square including draws against relegation candidates, at Burnley (1-1) and more recently at home to Watford (0-0). This is a big week for United who host Atletico in Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash in midweek with the tie finely balanced at 1-1.

Spurs have revived their hopes of a top 4 finish with 2 wide margin wins, 4-0 at Leeds and on Monday night they thrashed Everton 5-0 in a home fixture. In between those matches they lost an FA Cup fifth round tie at Middlesbrough, 1-0 in extra time. Their form has been a bit erratic of late, a point illustrated by 2 other recent road trips which delivered a 3-2 win at Manchester City and a 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

Spurs come into the weekend program in seventh spot, 2 points behind their opponents here but Spurs do have 2 games in hand.

Recent Head to Head

The first league meeting this season was staged in London at the end of October and United won it 3-0

Last season's meeting at Old Trafford delivered an amazing 6-1 win for Spurs although United won the return away from home 3-1.

Of the last 7 EPL head to heads 5 have gone over 2.5 goals in total

The Betting

Manchester United are currently 23/20 to win the game with the draw at 2.55/1 and Spurs can be backed at 23/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 7/10 and it's 6/10 for both teams to score.

Ronaldo is 5/1 to score the first goal and 1.46/1 to score anytime

Harry Kane is 53/10 to score the first goal of the game and 1.57/1 to score anytime

The Verdict:

United are back under pressure after fierce criticism following last week's derby defeat and this looks a really tricky one to call.

Those 2 recent Spurs wins came against teams in free fall, a repeat of the performance they put in at Manchester City would give them every chance of maximum points whilst a display such as the one at Burnley would probably see them lose.

With Harry Kane in top form I'll take the view that Spurs will be on a going day and will pick United off twice with Kane also taken to pop up any time.
