Football Liverpool120Tuesday's English Premier League match sees Liverpool bid to take the title race to the final day of the season when they visit Southampton

Southampton's season is ending tamely. They have won just 1 of their last 10 league matches, drawing 2 and losing 7 but with 40 points they are safe from the threat of relegation. Last time out they lost 3-0 at Brentford and in their most recent home game they went down 2-1 to Crystal Palace.

Liverpool won the FA Cup final against Chelsea on spot kicks on Saturday. As was the case with the League Cup final there were no goals in regulation time or extra time and once again Liverpool held their nerve in the shoot out.

With 2 trophy's in the cabinet and a Champions League Final against Real Madrid to come Liverpool need a win here to take the title race to the final day when they host Wolves and Manchester City are at home to Villa. City are currently 4 points clear and Liverpool have this game in hand. City's goal difference is currently 7 better than Liverpool's so it's a really tall order for Klopp's side but they can at least crank up the pressure if they can add another victory to their current 17 match unbeaten run in the EPL.

You can get at least 6/1 about Liverpool winning the title come Sunday.

Recent Head to Head

The first league meeting this season was staged at Anfield in November and Liverpool won it 4-0 with Jota scoring twice.

Liverpool came unstuck on this ground last season, losing 1-0.

The Betting

Southampton are currently 6/1 to win the game with the draw at 43/10 and Liverpool can be backed at 4/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 9/20 and it's 13/20 for both teams to score.

Liverpool are 1.07/1 to score 3 goals or more.

The Verdict:

It would be no surprise to see a number of changes in Liverpool's starting line up after another energy sapping cup final and on current form fatigue arguably poses more of a threat than Southampton do.

It's hard to nail down where the Saints have gone wrong as they had been going well for more than half the season. Perhaps this final home game will bring about a better display and my play is both teams to score in a game of 3 goals or more in total.
